Ah OK, I am assuming they are talking about the 60 rotation. At 56 you get Enochian, 5% damage boost, 58 Blizzard IV -> Ice Spell that refreshed Enochian and does OK single target damage, 60 Fire IV -> main DPS spell requires astral fire and Enochian.
The 60 rotation is more like (and I am no expert)
Ley/Quelling/Sharpcast-> Fire III -> Enochian/Raging (I may have these 5 buffs in the wrong order) -> F4 ->F4 -> F1 ->F4 ->F4 ->F3 ->Convert ->F4 ->F4 ->B3 ->B4 ->F3 ->F4 ->F4 ->F1 ->F4 ->F4 ->B3 ->B4 and repeat, roughly. Granted, I think there are ways to work in Thunder etc.. as I said I am no expert on BLM, I Just did some reading on rotation once I got 60 (and promptly quit the job).
This thread goes into a lot more detail, including working in Thunders and showing multiple openers/rotations depending on circumstance. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...A-Guide-to-DPS
One of these days I'm just going to afk through entire dungeons and see how far I get. Because this thread makes it sound like I can do this now, since after all, "low standards" are A-Okay.
Ah ok. Yeah I'm not looking forward to relearning my whole rotation at level 60 >_<. I'll check out that guide though, thanks.Ah OK, I am assuming they are talking about the 60 rotation. People like you keep talking about not dictating "their fun." What about OUR fun? It's ok for a group to be stressed and irritated because one person wants to be a special case? Am I not allowed to have fun too?
For all you still going with the meaningless argument I think this pretty much sums it up. Everyone has the right to play how they want but they also are going to have to accept any consequences, wether that be being kicked from a dungeon because you were horrible holding people back or kicked for being an ass and making a mountain of a mole hill when no one else cares. If we can't all agree on accepting each others play styles I feel we should all at least be able to accept this.I'd like to try to summarize this thread because last time I pulled this off the thread ended! (If anyone remembers "the arrogance of some people", this thread is basically a copy paste, except it's about DPS DPS instead of Healer DPS)
Nobody is saying you can't play how you want. If I want to go in a dungeon without a pet and spam adlo until I'm OOM and then stick my thumbs up my...erm, nose, for the rest of the pull, I have every right to choose to do that.
However, I need to accept the consequences of such a choice. This is a cooperative multiplayer game. If you make choices that deliberately make it harder for the rest of your team, they have every right to be mad about it. Some (like me) probably will roll their eyes and not say anything. However, some will ask if you know what you're doing. They may try to confirm you're not a bot. Some will offer you advice. Some will ask you what you think you're doing. Some will kick you out of the party.
Just as much as I have every right to play how I want, other people have every right to deal with that however they want to as well. And if you're going to choose to play without critical abilities, be it enochain, or healer dps, or popping CDs or whatever, that's fine but you at least need to OWN that choice and accept responsibility for the way the party reacts to it.
You can be a snowflake all you want, but you can't force other people to just deal with your snowflakiness. If you don't like the way people react to you only doing xx% of your job, then start at least trying to play 100% of your job.

It's correct to using thunder for opener (at level 60). My spouse is doing blizzard 3 -> thunder then enochian stuff. Also never use scathes lol.Wait what? What's wrong with using thunder in your opener? I usually start with Raging Strikes, Ley Lines, Swift Cast, Fire III, Sharp Cast, Thunder, Fire I, Thundercloud, Fire I spam till OOM, Blizard III, Thunder, Fire III etc. Even before I got Sharp Cast I would always start Fire III and then Thunder before spamming Fire I so I would get that chance at proccing thundercloud up asap.
Cool. I don't usually use scathe unless I'm having to run around a lot or I just went back to umbral ice and the last enemy is a sliver from death and I don't feel like cast times. :P
Also I haven't tested this yet and probably won't be able to play for a few days but if you use swift cast and then Raging Strikes and or Ley Lines will those count as a spell that removes the Swift Cast? If not I could switch my opener around to use SC first and then pop LL and RS for a little more damage out.
