Well to be honest, those questions are different.

A bot is a fairly defined and real thing in this game.

A loser is a bit less defined, though they certainly do exist in the game, its not the same as a bot.

So where asking someone if they are a loser would be almost exclusively rhetorical, asking if someone is a bot can be a legitimate question.

Though you can assume it was meant to insult, that doesn't mean it wasn't also meant to get a response.

At that point it's not a question of the intent but how the person perceived what was said.

Indeed. No one besides the person in question really knows if it was meant to wound from the get-go.

It was unnecessary and certainly not very tactful.
