How's that even relevant? DPS being bad on purpose makes everyone's job harder.
You're right though, this is the biggest circle jerk of people defending bad gameplay I've seen in a while, even for here.

Well this thread is less about the OP and more about the community standards. Unless the players stop overreacting, being bad and start treating the randoms in DF like people, topics like this one are going to flourish.
Seems half it is like that. Just find it interesting that people are arguing opinions for over 50 pages xD

There's only so far people can call things "opinions".
Facts:
This is a multiplayer game. You pay your sub but that doesn't entitle you to make other paying customers carry you. Do you go to McDonalds and snag fries off the strangers ahead of you? And then expect them to be ok with that because it's not a big deal?
This game is not rocket science. Sure there are more complex ways of optimization past the basics; nobody's expecting df people to be perfect. But it's grade 1 math to know what actions are the most efficient for 1, 3, or 6+ mobs, and the main complaint is against people not even trying to be good.
Duty finder is going to pair you up with people who want to do things at least relatively efficiently, and is a poor place to practice your latest oddball RP idea.
There's only so much politeness that can and even should be expected when you're failing this grade 1 math type of decision-making, making everyone else's job quantifiably harder and longer.
Yeah, "it's only 5%" except you have other factors like Astral Fire, Ley Lines, Raging Strikes, AST cards, Fey Wind, Foe Requiem, etc. that all contribute to the bigger picture. It all adds up.
I imagine this is how they see themselfs
And this is what i see actually happening when tanking

How to Use There, Their and They're:
*Use there when referring to a place
*Use their to indicate possession
*They're is a contraction of the words they and are
*Ur is an ancient city-state in Mesopotamia, not a word

If we keep thinking of it all as a time saver instead of a way to improve the general skill, this isn't gonna work. I'd rather spend half an hour longer with players who try hard than a lazy ass who doesn't give a fuck because "it's too easy".

In large it comes down to game design. if something can be ignored then it gets ignored.
if during a boss fight you can ignore the adds and just punch through, smack the boss and win then people will do it.
if you can completely ignore mechanics because the healers can keep you up then people will.
if you can hit hard enough to completely skip "phases" then people do.
if you can ignore half your skills / buffs and still clear content then people do it.
On the one hand everyone wants everyone to play properly but at the same time they want to take as many short cuts as possible. often see people play "properly" and then get crap for it. ignore the mechanics just zerg the boss!!!!
There's a difference between being efficient (intentionally ignoring newly spawned adds when the boss is at 1% HP left) and being lazy (intentionally ignoring the use of skills that increase your damage/survival/healing output). In large it comes down to game design. if something can be ignored then it gets ignored.
