Gated need tips

I'm in a bit of bind. I'd like to start gathering red scripts to further enhance my gears, but seems like I'd need to overmeld before I even have a chance at it.

The tier 4 and 5 materia price is insane on my server and I just don't have the gil to do it at this time.

Tips on how to approach this?

If you're able to gather in Diadem, even in normal you have a chance at steel tokens. You can trade those in for crafting and gathering grade 3 and 4. This is a bit of a grind but costs nothing in terms of gil. Granted the alternative would to just be gathering for gil instead of gear. Look into crystals and clusters, they're kind of a gold mine if your server's prices for them aren't dirt cheap like mine. Aetherial Reduction is a blessing!

You can get red scrips easily with Blue scrips gear + old melded accessories, which is what I did.

You can also buy the lvl 55 gear from the merchant at moghome (churing mist) an spirit bind that with gathering high lvl mat (like hardsilver ore). They give 100% tier IV materia when converted.

Not 100%, but pretty high (>75% in my experience with limited actual record keeping. Tier III the rest of the time.) This is still one of the best ways to get materia in bulk though.

If you get the i150 set for your left side plus offhands you can gather the red scrip collectibles no problem. Just need 600 gp, if you can't buy that gear go to moghome buy the crafting left side gear (assuming crafting materia is more expensive than gathering materia) and gather things like hardsilver to SB and sell the mats and converted materia for money.
