FFXIV has a realistic , living world right now.

Realistic yes, but living? The world couldn't be any more static and stiff as it is right now. It is incredibly sterile as well. The lackluster shading doesn't help either. The towns nor the field areas aren't alive. There is nothing going on anywhere except some cutscenes.

You occasionally see an airship flying, and that's it.

How does it not look fantasy? you have the Chocobo fighting along side a Paladin and mages against a great evil fantastic monster called a Chimera.... How??? Oh and the fact the Sword looks like it is Icebrand or something with magical power on it? and the ghost and the Imp in it? ya those are not fantasy and only Western realism lore... Got ya no fantasy here folks move along...

It has a bit of "Dark Souls" style.. in my eyes. That's not positive for this game, because it already has a special atmosphere right now. But we need more SS.
