I'd be willing to bet that if/when an add-on becomes a necessity over a perk, there would be more than one version to cater to different players' aesthetic tastes and preferences.

Also, I don't see anyone complaining about action bar and status icons in XIV having timers, but ho-LAWD did people wave their doucheflags when they found out some XI players used Windower's version of the same thing.

It is definately the T1 characters UI, as the HP/MP is the same.

Also you can see a big green 865 over the main character on the screen, and in the chat log, shows her name next to the number.

And Yoshida has already said they will try to implement popular addons into the game, so everyone will have the addon at some point, whether they know it's an addon or not.

And I'm willing to bet a good deal of them are going to be optional/toggle. Kind of like aggro and level indicators, hp bars, etc....

Ilvl preventing a fresh 85 from getting into heroics when they're under-geared is one of the best things to happen to WoW. You have no business queueing for a dungeon where you will be carried and aren't contributing.
    This !!

It's funny how most of the people who are so opposed to WoW haven't even played it or played on an offical server.

Addons make playing a game better in almost every situation.

Gearscore proves you have done the work and an easy to display number to prove it. (whether that is through raiding or farming tokens to buy NPC gear it equates to the same thing)

DPS meters make you work harder to maximise your class to the best of its ability.

Threat meters provide detailed information when a tank isn't doing his best or a DPS or Healing class is not watching what he is doing.

People who complain about these type of addons are generally the ones that sit in the party not doing much, generally lazy or just don't care about party mechanics. (learn to play your class or go solo)

I can not wait for addons.

the question is will it be optional while still not gimping the player, you may be able to turn of the display of the aggro marker, but you would get laughed into oblivion by doing so

Running full on into the Ixali stronghold with name displays off is actually fun as hell. You should try it.

We have 3 dungeons that are more like "leveling mazes" than actual dungeons along with an Ifrit battle. We have monotonous leves for quests that are not fleshed out, and side-quests that are still lacking. There are no raids, unless you're counting 1 instanced Ifrit battle, and there is no PvP.

So far, I count more things to do in WoW than XIV. WoW is king due to the fact that it can run on low end computers and is very accessible. I get it, you don't like WoW. You played it on private servers (as you stated on Eorzeapedia before) and you think it's a buggy game that looks horrible and is too easy to level up in. You played on a private server years ago. Private servers are nothing like the actual game. If you want to mindlessly bash WoW, go ahead. Just don't try to pretend that XIV has more to offer than WoW.

You said on Eorzeapedia that you played on private servers during BC. It is not hard to maximize your DPS by using a rotation or a priority list. I find it more fun than sitting around casting a spell once every 5-10 seconds so I don't pull aggro. Also, dungeon loot is need before greed. Cloth wearers cannot need anything above cloth. Leather wearers cannot need on plate and mail. Mail wearers cannot need on plate, etc.

Again, there's no way combat will ever end up like WoW, whether there is a DPS meter or not. There was a parser for XI, did combat turn into WoW? No. Why? Because WoW's tanks get and hold aggro easily. XI/V tanks do not. If you're nuking a mob back to back, you're going to get maybe 3 casts before a mob is on you.

These fears are completely unfounded and if people would stop to think about WHY these addons affect WoW the way they do instead of going Chicken Little and parroting what other fear-mongers state, it would be very easy to dispel these misconceptions and see that there is no way a DPS meter could ever turn XIV into a WoW clone.
Actually i play wow just a few month ago level up a warrior and a death knight and many other class, and just like the private world the bugs i found where the same thing lol. in private servers there no such thing as dungeon finder that work and there really one 1 servers so i was talking about real wow if you count the time i really payed for real wow i would say it be a total amount of 5months and each time i play it was due to the fact that i could not play FFXIV due to my pc being mess up and had to order new parts to even play FFXIV so i ended up playing WoW with a few friends and my gf while we both wait for the parts to come and each time a new part broke.

What i said in Eorzeapedia was 2009/2010 which don't count that when i never like wow and never want to test it out and i ended up playing in a private servers and even in real life everyone who play wow long enough know there loads of bugs and each players i talk too told me that blizzard for you only caring about money.

Anyways there no need to become a wow-clone there just going to lose fans and players due to the fact that blizzard new mmo would take over wow. The only thing that could be a wow killer would be blizzard there player base trust them even if there game sucks and the company is not that great but that part is my opinion on that.

But i agree you need to take part from other game so players can play the game there way even if that wow. But changing the look of the game is just other part i don't want that the only issue i have i can care less about the UI or if they call stuff dungeon or raid anymore i just care about the look of the game if it too cartoonish i guess i play due to that fact it's the only game that have storyline and it not a game that spam action all day but i still think if that how the game look then it's a downgrade from FFXIV 1.0

And i still think FFXIV have more to offer then wow from 1.19 sorry but that just how i feel. Sidequest, leves, craft, mission, prime fight, dungeon maybe i should use my words better the quality in ffxiv is better then wow.

Well, a few things we can note from the "Screenshot" [still having a hard time being convinced of this]

The first thing that says photoshop to me is the rendering of the light on the chimera's necks. Maybe it's just because the engine is rough, but there is all this shiny glossy on its neck, but with all that brightness nothing is really casting a defined shadow, and it doesn't seem in tone with the overcast sky in the image. In fact, the ground texture almost seems purposely done because it's so difficult to tell what's a cast shadow and what isn't.

One thing to notice is that the chocobo seems strategically placed, because if you look closely the chocobo seems to have a smaller texture impact.

It might be a "real ss" but that doesn't mean that's the quality we get in the future.
