I'm sorry, I'm really not seeing what you're talking about with your screenshots compared to the new one. For all I'm concerned, in the new shot it looks like they're fighting in Coerthas. I mean, yes, the rocks to look a little flat. But if you're not looking directly at the grass on the ground in Thanalan, it looks flat as well - that happens in some of your screenshots. Hell, there are flat rocks in your shots too. Yay normals.

I think the shades you're talking about is exactly what we see in the game right now when you use spells/weaponskills. Everything gets darker and there's a light coming from the PC, which I absolutely love. Maybe this is what's on the image? (ie look at Kain).

I'm honestly thinking that it might be that too. Since all the light seems to be coming from one area - it looks like the source is from the fire from the chimera though?

Look at the PLD it look fake not as real as FFXIV now sorry but if you can't see it you can't see it but it there it look like a big downgrade when it come to realism. Look at Pic of ffxiv now and that and you see what i mean.

I think Zenaku raise a legitimate concern, but I would have to see more pictures (of the actual working engine rather than a mockup) before I could agree/disagree.

Wow! at first, i thought it is a computer graphic created by some graphic artist.
But now it really REAL! YES!

is not powerful colors, those are very good shading and lightning, colors are the same, is just the reflection of it that comes from the engine, is beautiful, it doesn't look anything like Aion, WoW, Tera or anything in particular. You could not understand me, then i could not understand you more.

I personally don't see it Zenaku, and I hope I never have to. Because the graphical quality of FFXIV is the best thing about it, practically one of the only good things left.
