The graphics are a improved tremendously, denying this is just silly.
The art style has changed, and whether you like it or not both 1.0 and 2.0 engine will look exactly as in the pic artstyle wise.
And knowing that, I'll take 2.0 engine anyday. Those shaders are awesome.
There's no accounting for taste. Some will think it's prettier, others won't. Neither side is right or wrong because both are based on individual preference.
Back on topic: this would be a good question to ask yoshi and get answered once and for all. Is the WHOLE thing an actual gameplay screen cap or is there some artistic licensing going on in there? Plus what are those little dots on the bottom-right?

It is freaking awesome! That picture is really making me excited for v2.0!Recently translated by Reinheart:
What's your take on this? Does the graphics in the screenshot look different to you? Is this because of the new graphics engine? Will it be more or less demanding in terms of graphics and performance?
Discuss.
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)

lol Zenaku reminded me of a picture that says "This is photoshoped! Look at this pixel change!"

Graphics aren't everything? Square disagrees. They put far more into how a FF game looks than it plays.

He says in the latest interview that the new engine requires a more powerful system if you run it at the maximum settings, so how can this be considered a downgrade.
Or do you just mean you don't like the new art style ?

i hate addon that surrounds it self all about the DPS thinggie, seriously, we're not working on game, we're playing on a game, fun, not to make one self stress because we didnt hit DPS mark.
The problem is people are looking at DPS meters in WoW from a FFXI/V standpoint. The combat is nothing alike. FFXI bosses (before ToAU) lasted upwards of 2 hours if you weren't running with an extra party of people on the outside to switch in for mana, chiblasts, bloodpacts, etc. Boss fights in WoW last 5-10 minutes usually. You do not even have minutes to recover from a mistake, you have seconds or it's a wipe. If a healer goes down, you need a way to instantly see that on a healing addon so you can begin to cast a battle rez before all of the other healers start running out of mana. If a WHM died fighting an HNM in XI, it was fine. You swapped them out while they got raised and weakness wore and had a back-up healer fill in. That is not the case in WoW. If most DPS are doing 22k DPS and you're lagging behind at 18k, you either don't know your rotations, don't know your gear priority, or you're just goofing off. You just cannot afford to do this in current tier content.Btw it's not always about DPS but i guess that switching over too more about DPS then just playing i played ffxi for years and everything was done fine without real big DPS but i guess it was without me knowing o.o.
Current tier raids are designed to be executed with the utmost precision. If you don't find that fun and think it's too much work, then you can go raid earlier tiers of the expansion that you already outgear.
I don't understand it. Usually people from XI and XIV are harping on WoW about it taking no skill at endgame, yet those are the same people complaining about add-ons that weed out the leechers. Too many things are going on in WoW to sit there and watch people cure or nuke to see who is playing correctly. Things happen too fast for you to be able to eyeball this. If anything, WoW's endgame is far more demanding than XI's ever was, which is why I have no clue why people from XI spout that XI was harder. Getting the claim was 90% of the difficulty in XI. Not being an idiot and running behind a dragon to Spike Flail the entire room was the other 10%.
