The beauty about WoW's UI is that you can make it just the way you want it. There's really no "WoW UI" in that sense. Want simplistic? The devs should very well provide you with a way to do so.That's kind of terrible. There's a lot i hate about that screenshot. For one, I hope it's a boss fight, toherwise I see no reason to have that many people in a party. What's witht he crap around the map? Multiple toolbars? I can't see what that stuff is in the lower right. Looks very non-controller friendly, sort of like what a friend had up in wow, when he was just mashing buttons left and right. I hope it doens't look like that at all. I like the simplistic look, less is more.
So true.
Anyone dont want their screen full of addons... fine dont enable them / install them.
It's as simple as that.
Addons in atleast WoW, u could resize, move around to basicly
any location on the screen, so i dont see any problem.
So...im really looking foward to 2.0 ! :P

Well, a few things we can note from the "Screenshot" [still having a hard time being convinced of this]
The first thing that says photoshop to me is the rendering of the light on the chimera's necks. Maybe it's just because the engine is rough, but there is all this shiny glossy on its neck, but with all that brightness nothing is really casting a defined shadow, and it doesn't seem in tone with the overcast sky in the image. In fact, the ground texture almost seems purposely done because it's so difficult to tell what's a cast shadow and what isn't.
One thing to notice is that the chocobo seems strategically placed, because if you look closely the chocobo seems to have a smaller texture impact.
It might be a "real ss" but that doesn't mean that's the quality we get in the future.

I agree there is no shadow and the lighting is only rendering on the mob and the PLD and war but the dragoon there not much lighting and he still close by and no shadow and if you take off everyone and the mob you just see a picture of a area which look fake too me not even real endgame look like a art. Look at the tree in the back and the mountain it look fake in at the bottom where the action bar is where you see rocks it does not look like the type of rocks we see in ffxiv now they look more fake. the lalafall casting cure look like art also. Even the Monk look really low in detail like art the lalafall look like the art we see in other arts we see sense Yoshida took over so it seem to be all art too me but who knows.Well, a few things we can note from the "Screenshot" [still having a hard time being convinced of this]

The only thing i see high in detail would be the PLD,chocobo, mob, and maybe the warrior the glowing sword does not look real at all.
If that real ingame then that a big downgrade i hope a dev team could tell us more about this.

The UI is not part of that, I'm sure. Only the people fighting the mob. The rest is more than likely concept photoshoppery as an idea of how they envision it.That's kind of terrible. It looks like its a quest or leve mob (noted the text under the map and the timer)
The grid in the lower right is inventory space I'm betting, colour coded to show different stuff, like armour, materials and consumables maybe.
Wouldn't surprise me if you click a grid and open that individual bag (gobby bags ? XD), im sure they plan a separate UI for PS3 and controller users.
I have no doubt that its real time, looking how good FF14 looks at the moment its easy to imagine with a better graphics engine and some added effect, better lighting and shadowing it could look that good.
Yup
Final Fantasy was doing Cartoony long before WoW.At any rate, the only thing that worries me....
Cartoonish. If this ends up looking cartoony like wow I'm shooting someone. While the pic looks awesome, it also has a little cartoony feel to it, its slight, but its there. *Is worried*
I would actually say that over the top art and animation is a Final Fantasy trade mark, just go look at at trailer of FF13-2

Um no lol. FF games have been as realistic as they could be at the time the game was made, the only except was 9 out of the main stream line. Early versions made due the best they could, but lets be honest the graphics limitations in the past hindered, and they still tried to make thing realisticlly believable despite it being fantasy.
Yes its fantasy, fantasy isn't a cartoon its a genre..... If mithras actually existed people can imagine "this" is what they would actually look like. That is what has been so special about Final Fantasy art style. Because it pulls and draws you into it by saying hey if this WAS real, I bet this would be a pretty damn good example of what this thing would actually look like. No one watches a cartoon and goes hey if this race was real (say a demon) I bet that is what they would look like.......this is not a hard concept to understand lol.
If you go play wow how many times have you said hey, if a troll actually existed i bet THIS is what it would look like. Probably none, because its car too nyyyyyy
So positive notes? it doesn't look like flat grass, the sky looks way more detailed (although current clouds at dusk are gorgeous) and I guess just more detail in general, but the style, lil less crayon, lil more pencil please.
