New Eorzea .... How?

Hi there,
since they announced about the new patch 2.0 , and the new remaps; i was wondering how they are going to do it?

1-I mean are they going to "Just" do it? with no reason
or
2-They'll change it as a lore? some nature reasons (Meteor, volcanoes,etc) , wars,nuclear bomb , or whatever the reason they might come with??

I think i'll like it more if they add a fantasy lore on why the new maps and Eorzea will be changed

they already stated numerous times that there is going to be a large-scale catastrophic event (could either be natural or man-made) that will change the landscape of Eorzea.

Read some of the translations and/or interviews, they will serve you well.

it would have been epic if they kept it a secret until the day of the patch lol. we log in and we go "OMG! WTF happened!?"

YoshiP - each individual seasonal event quest is related as well as illustrations done for the seasonal event also. Once it hits the new FFXIV you may never be able to play through those events again. It has some spoilers to the scenario so I can’t say much but it’s really big event that’s going to affect Eorzea which changes the map drastically. With every patch there is real time events happening so I think of that as live feeling.

Edit: Also, I'm finding it hard to call 2.0 a patch. With a new game Client, new Servers and new Graphics Engine it need to be called something else, but idk.

I would call it a Major Expansion

It's more then that, it's a new build on a new game engine, and will be a new client. In short, it's a whole new game.

Youshi-p Said " In essence" its "Like" a new game ( which it does certainly feels liek it) but its the same game ( just a Storyline Shifter).
