How many was the most times you ever grinded an instance for a single specific item?

So, I've been running The Great Gubal Library for a while to get the Sharlayan Pathmaker Coat (The DRG one). About 45 times in fact (give or take one or two, kinda lost count at the 40s). Not a single drop.

At the first ten runs or so I just kinda laughed at it. After the 20th run or so I just run this for sheer spite. The dungeon doesn't exactly give me anything else, since it doesn't give me tome or xp. From my runs I actually completed my Sharlayan Coat set except the one I wanted, I have every single Sharlayan Coat except the DRG one.

I wonder if what I'm doing is normal behaviour anymore. Anyone have story about how many times you ever run a single instance for a single specific item?

And you can't blame me if I think the RNG is bugged

To get the WHM Cross weapon in gold and in silver, Halonic and Martial Crook ^^ Halonic took the most time, about 25 runs. the other one around 20ish. At least those looks like Priest's weapon, not a wooden garbage with a face on it >.<

I generally don't count, to be honest. It's better for my sanity. It probably took me 40 or so runs of the new Expert dungeons to get my Plague Doctor's Coat, but I'm not really sure.

about 30 runs of Binding Coil turn 2 to get the Allagan Boots of Healing... just so I could complete a schoolgirl glamour

I did the same thing back in the day. It probably took at least that many. I wasn't going for a schoolgirl look specifically but I wanted a nice pair of shoes that would show off the thigh-highs. :x

Ive never counted number of runs but number of days in a row I've tried with I'm quessing between 7-10 runs a day... that said my longest was over 7 days farming Arey for the PLD shield for a Silvery knight style glamour I used for 2 months... I shall never discard it EVER!

I want to say the number was somewhere in the 60s, but I ran WoD every week, and then ran it as part of the upgrade mats quest every week, and then helped friends with it and used it for tomes, on top of just random runs in hoping to get the healer coat. To this day I only ever saw the coat drop once, and I was beaten in rolls by a WHM who was doing next to nothing the entire run. I have given up on the item and decided I hate how it looks aesthetically. Haha.

Hmm, I think Turn 9 for the BRD coat took a lot of runs, it was 40 to maybe 50 or so runs to get it.

In fact, a lot of my highest amount of run top 10's are from grinding Allagan gear... but that's what happens when you have an obsession with Allagan stuff.

They took me a lot of runs to get, also, just ask my good friend who suffered through most of it with me.

The Allagan stuff is some of the best-looking gear in the game, so it's no surprise. There are still a number of pieces I want to get, and I'm incredibly excited for the dyable versions coming in 3.2!
