End Game- What is considered a lot of Gil?

I haven't played the game all that long... only about six months total since right before HW launched. I have no idea what to spend the 13+mil that I've amassed in that time on. I spent a long time at level 50 on my BRD class while I leveled all the DoL/DOH classes to 50 before going on to HW content. I craft everything once and sell what I don't use. I spent a bit on a small house for the FC, and recently bought a small plot for myself. I almost bought another small plot for myself this morning... but...

I have about 200 mil on Tonberry, in addition to two large mansions and several other houses. Most players on this server will say this is a lot of gil, although very far from all.

What the heck do people do with that many houses? Lol I can't even figure out how I really want to furnish my own and the FC house that I have now. /shrug I mean, with the aetheryte crystal there, it's a cheap way to get around, but probably not worth the gil I paid for the plot to begin with, right?

I guess there's just not much else I care to spend gil on. Okay, I would love to have the hunting hawk minion, but that's the sort of thing I won't ever actually buy, especially not at 13mil like it is on Diabolos atm. I don't know what it costs on other servers, but it seems like mine has a lot of gil floating about. Folks were comparing prices on the Eikon gear--well on Diabolos, the chests are like 1.2mil.

It's probably one of the easiest ways to make gil. Before it was gardening, now it's airships. Even if you don't want to make gil, you can just amass a ton of materia or other items. I know some crafters are doing this right now with crafting materia. That said, I've been too lazy to use my extra houses for that.

I personally intended to decorate my second house, but I never got around to it. Thinking of letting it go. Sadly, I don't think I'll be risking a sale. Shame, because I was going to sell it for less than the max price.

Yes these are some common questions. I know a few people who owns multiple houses, out of these I do not count the ones who buys plots just to flip for a profit. The ones that are left include people who wants extra gardens, who let their trusted friends hold their houses indefinitely, and who owns multiple one-man FCs for airships. I just happen to have several trusted friends who followed me from another server, and I bought them their house with the understanding that, if they ever leave or want to change houses, they would let their homes be refunded first with the 80% deposit returned to me.

Another thing to consider is that houses on tonberry are highly valuable because of the large population and low prices for most items on the market board. As a comparison, our crafted i220 chests would cost only around 300k each. This means that housing plots purchase price are actually very expensive compared to other items, and, as theres lots of demand, you cannot wait for plot depreciation. This makes holding onto them highly valuable. If you want to let go of them, you got to wait for the refund first since each gil is just so much more valuable here.

I know someone who has reached Gil cap twice over. I'd consider that a lot of gil lol.

Actually, crafting and gathering can generate gil ingame, gathering moreso than crafting. Scrip turn ins also generate gil and I find myself surprised by how fast it adds up from gatherer turn ins. Granted with crafting turn ins you're liable to spend more gil making the item than you receive for the turn in.
