    End Game- What is considered a lot of Gil?

    I started playing FF14 a little over a month ago. I've achieved 60whm, and I've completed all of the main story line quests avaliable. Currently @ i179 gearset. And I'm working on unlocking Eso/Void gear.

    So, since a few days ago. My only expenses have been teleportation fee's. So what I've been doing is playing the market value. (Mainly with crystals and rank IV materia). (Target per purchase is at least a +20% gain, with a -5% AH fee (if I bought the item that is being sold in another city) and -5%~ AH fee after I sell the item. Leaving me a minimum of a 10%~ profit per transaction.

    Within the last 48 hours. I've gone from 30k, too 491kgil. 70% of that gil has been earned through Market transaction. And the other 30% has been gained from duty finder (roughly).

    So, my question is. How much gil is a lot of gil? (My target is to achieve 10mil gil in 1 month).

    Wealth is perceived differently by everyone.

    491k to a new player would seem wealthy but not to the crafter that has 10 million, and that crafter has a wealthy neighbour with a large house they bought for 60 mil so they must be wealthy.

    For me to personally answer you question, 10 mil is not alot.

    As a rule of thumb, look at the most expensive thing in your world, then multiply it by three. While your profit isn't bad at all and you can certainly keep doing what you're doing, the large amounts of Gil to be made are in crafting and gathering. It's really dependant on what you want to put into it. I can clear a million Gil a day easily at this point, but rarely have anything worth spending it on. Further, it also depends on who your market is. If you target the high end crafting market, sell the materials needed for the crafting in large quantities and even if it is under current market board value the profit is still huge because you're parlaying your time and effort into pure profit as opposed to having to invest any Gil personally. Of course, that is after the original investment on the gear required to harvest or create said items.

    I'm a moderate crafter (two-star capable on 7 disciplines) but don't really play the MB... craft for my self and a few friends. Occasionally selling stuff when I need to save for something. My normal steady state is 4m, I surged to 48m in 6 weeks in preparation for the housing plots opening up -- mainly by running gathering favors and selling the ooids -- 9-10m a week from that. Boring, though Gathering is currently king of Gil, IMO.

    The other easy money is crafting level 10-30 gear -- most of the mats are vendor purchasable, you're only real cost is shards. You can typically make 10-20x cost there. Its seems small, but it sells fast and its a constant trickle, compared to the higher end big payoff items.

    I think there was a user who maxed out their gil, so, there's that.

    To me that's not too much. When I put in the effort, I make a ton on just gathering alone, and I know crafters who think a mil is just chump change. A new user, that's not too bad. Before I bought a bunch of expensive stuff, my alt had about that much (I don't have crafting or gathering on them, so it was just quest / DF money). There are also probably people just like you, making all their money off the market board stock market. Good job.

    Over a year ago there was a thread asking ppl have how much gils, a lot of ppl had far below 1m.
    Months ago there was a same thread, a lot of ppl had 1-3m,

    I will consider you have made a lot of gils compared with what I read other players did.
    IMO your target is a great one, I think the FIRST 10m is a lot of gils for most players ^^;

    You can put it like this:
    On a lot of servers, the poverty line is considered 1 million gil

    You've got some good answers here but let me turn this on its head, why do you want a lot of gil? You said it yourself that you only use it for teleportation. Currently, there isn't really anything in game that I care to buy so I sit at under 5 mil at all times. It's been that way for the past 6-7 months. The only reason I bring that up is so you put some thought into it before pouring all your game time into something that you may not like. If you have an end goal in sight by all means but just a thought.
