When the emperors fists were released, I went and bought one to test it for one specific detail:
Your monk will actually fight with his fists instead of holding an invisible grip. Wich is exactly what people wanted.

If you take a close look at the fists, there's still a spot open to grip the bar of a weapon.

Where are my Emperors new daggers/spear.
I want my fantasy character to stab/slash with the air! Throw logic out the window.
Please look forward to it!

A flying turtle's actually quite reasonable, as unreasonable as this sentence sounds. It's probably a reference to Gamera or that monster from Ultraman.
But if this gets implemented, I'll be looking forward to:
The emperor's new book/spear/axe/etc
The emperor's new face
The emperor's new hair
The emperor's new mount
The emperor's new minion
The emperor's new house
Which has absolutely no relation to FF and the developers have straight up admitted that it was done as per fan request rather than a homage. Especially when we have to believe in the improbability that the tortoise we get in the gold saucer just happens to be able to fly (and no other ones in Hydaylian can).

Yeah I hate shields too. This is the best post of the year. And on many games paladins use only one sword or a hammer. Sound's better than the boring shields.

Meanwhile the game's full of puns and references not limited to final fantasy. And who knows whether the tortoises on hydaelyn can fly or not. The world as we know it right now is limited to the Eorzean continent. Even the fat chocobo can somehow fly through the power of cake.Which has absolutely no relation to FF and the developers have straight up admitted that it was done as per fan request rather than a homage.
