    Suggestion: Real Auction Concept.

Concept suggestion for a real-life similar: Auction facility.

Why not consider the real "Auction" option that many of us wanted since long ago,
based upon the Auction-house in "Final Fantasy VI".

It would be seperate from the Market-Board obviously.

    Auction item?
The concept builds on items that have been unlotted, dumped, lost during raids,
inventory clean-ups, rare & exotic items sold to npc's etc.

I'm pretty sure each day/week...there's loot lost during raids and
dungeon runs that have been discarded many times, however...

Why not build the conept of a auction around these items that have been lost, sold or dumped?
Maybe even throw in some rare items that might be sold on the Mogstation?
Or maybe some minions, mounts, rare Triple Triad Cards, rare crafting material,
other cool items undiscovered in dungeons etc.

And maybe add a weekly/daily "Mystery" box, where the content of the mystery-
box is hidden (and random) and you can bid on it now matter whats inside it.
Who knows, it might contain a "super-rare signed photo" of uncle ultros himself that you could hang in your room! (-example)

    The setting:
A facility where people could go each day, have a seat & wait for the auctioneer to present todays items that are up for auction?
Where the acutioneer is a sour old coot that sneer's puns, funny & crazy remarks about prices, auctioned items quality,
maybe even a short "too much info" about his personal life & how bad it is etc. XD

The week after, a stand in autioneer shows up telling everyone, that last autioneer got mauled by a runaway morbol from "Larkscall".
(Ya im making things up, but ...you get the general idea, crazy/funny emo stuff.) - Example.

    The Auctioneer:
The auctioneer?... a funny, dull...maybe even crazy creature from another part of the Eorzean world.
(Maybe even that crazy pianist from Chrono Trigger in the backround , jamming some funky auction house tunes)
    - or you could just slap in uncle Ultros, doing multiple auction sales at the same time with his 8 squiggly tentacles arms. XD
imagine... "Uncle Ultros Real-Steal Auctions" !

    The Bidding:
A small mini menu could pop up, where you have the option to bid on the announced price suggestion from the auctioneer, hold, or fold.
To claim your auctioned item, you could go to a booth near the exit after the aution is over & claim your item with gil.
(or some other for of payment.)

    Aution Payment Option/Concept:
A new payment system called "Auction Tokens" that can be earned from daily quest maybe.
Wich can be saved up and spent on items up for auction, instead of using gil as payment.

    Note:
Not everyone that goes to these things, go there to bid on auctions...but mainly for the interest / curiosity.
(Or a few hours nap, if you're homeless...lol)
This is also a very interesting concept to consider.

    Information Update: 2016.01.24
This concept would be run by the development team / game itself, and not the actual players.
Players cant put up things for auction, but rather the game itself is doing this.
The game would pick items from a loot table that have been discarded, sold to NPC's etc randomly.

The thing is, FFXI actually had a proper Auction House (AH).... and it was not as good as it seems - it was rife with RMT, the items that everyone wanted were even more ridiculously priced than what were seeing here with the MB, and, to make matters worse, due to server stability issues SE made it that you could only have a maximum seven items on auction at any one time (although you could have multiple auctions on AHs in different cities - each city and even some of the Outlands towns had their own unique AH).

Because of the aforementioned RMT problem, SE implemented taxes on it (similar to what we have on the MB, but across the board), and eventually the AH because so unused (players just resorted to bazaar selling), the AHs were all amalgamated and thus no matter where you accessed it, it was the same AH (Jeuno).

It's a nice feature, but really, i doubt SE are that keen on implementing it now, not this late into ARR's life.

EDIT: Also it should be noted that in FFXIV version 1.0 it seemed that an actual AH really was planned for eventual inclusion into the game, as there used to be a locked building opposite Maelvan's Gate in Limsa Lominsa in 1.0 that had shuttered windows and a sign outside with the same 'hammer and gavel' icon for the AH in FFXI, but it was never implemented in 1.0 when Yoshi replaced Tanaka as director. Given the fact that building has now completely disappeared in ARR (there is now just an empty space with a wall and an aethernet shard where it used to be in 1.0), it seems that any plans that might have been in the works for an AH system in FFXIV have been completely scrapped I'm afraid.

The facility for it is technically already in game if you run it thru a linkshell channel, or even say/shout in a specific area....it's just that there's nothing really rare enough to be worth the effort organizing that.
