This is correct, the esoterics price for the ores and shells will be lower.
In turn, the acquisition rate of esoterics will also be lower than the current law one.
It took a long time for the Atma step in 2.X to get nerfed and since it's been only a month and some weeks since 3.15 was out, it'd be far too early to have the first relic steps get nerfed since otherwise it'd be a lot faster to get a relic and not bother with a raid weapon.
Changes to Diadem could be... good?
It would be a good source of Red Scrip materials, if people actually did it. 3.2 is already set to adjust its objectives somewhat, though I'm not going to hold my breath on them making Diadem into the event it should be. Then we have melds on raid gear, with Diadem being a good location to Spiritbond and obtain Materia. They could also potentially change the item level dropped to match new tomestones, which would give it a temporary boost in activity. Honestly, all they need to do to make Diadem popular is put Unidentified items in there... Done, instant demand for the event and a flood of Red Scrip materials for me.
I'm not really expecting a new crafting set in any meaningful way. The i170/i180 is a bonus, you can achieve current maximum requirements melding i150ish. I would then assume any new recipes could likely be achieved with i170. Given Specialist recipes are here to stay, I'm not even too torn up over the prospect of melding multiple sets. Doing three is still more annoying than doing one, but it's better than doing eight... If Diadem can be fixed IVs even become less of an issue IMO... Vs are still a major pain though...

I doubt we will see 3 star until 3.3- adding a new line of crafting gear at this point wouldnt make sense considering the gear atm is more than what we need, I dont think we can even reach full potential yet considering the materia Vs.
The only tools i can see coming out or added are gathering main hands and main hand for fisher.
How do you know the relic quests are being nerfed?
