Make FFXIV More Alt-Friendly... Please??????

Asking FFXIV to be alt-friendly is like asking for more homeruns in football. It just isn't how the game is designed. If you want homeruns, watch baseball. If you want slam dunks, watch basketball. If you want alts, you probably need to look at another game.

Some changes would be nice, like mailing alts or giving them access to your personal house. Given that this just hasn't happened and we are nearing the 10 year mark of this game, we shouldn't expect that sort of change.

You know that's demonstrably false..,

if that was the case then people wouldn't have any reason to have any alt, asides personal preferences.

and expecting no change is basically saying there is no point asking for any change at all..,

which you know full well there will always be things that need to change or evolve.

These things need to be asked til there is change.., and this is one of the least harmful changes that also benefit single character players which aren't the minority or the majority. Since it would boost many things in the system that they would enjoy that is QoL..,


You're practically pandering to those who are against something without fully knowing the exact thing they're asking for.

One thing for sure.., if this game wasn't for alts.., there wouldn't be accountwide shop items, or other factors that help towards that end.
or the fact that these things overlap/are adjacent to many other things/QoL/Changes/Options/preferences players ask.


The whole this game isn't, or cater to what you want works for many other games or topics.
But not in this one, which is part of many things MMOs generally have.[ALL classes/jobs/gatherers aren't an excuse against it either since you can't even gear all your characters anyways for all content. which is why a undeniable amount of players have alts as well..,]

Its not only RPers. But raid alts and alts on different datacenters... I just dont want to bother farming some relic glam again just to have it on another DC alt. Make glam dresser per account, not character madge

I met people that uses alts for a lot more than just RP especially now with the server travel. Some uses them for "market control" through the same DC (by putting each alt in a server in the same DC, leveling them and selling specific stuff across the DC like a "tiny empire business") xD

I have 7 chars in my server now (the 8th slot is reserved for a fem Hroth ).

Each one at a milestone in the story. Why? to repeat all emotions from cutscenes while having a personality and a "concept" for each of them. One is a magic master while other loves to punch enemies... Even the choices are different based on this "concept" stuff I give to each of them.

About transfering itens, people usually uses a friend (a very trusted one) to transfer stuff from one alt to another. But, this is really annoying and the lack of a better way must be adressed. We should be able to transfer freelly like if any alt we have was a friend in our friend list.

Some people have "shell FCs" just to use the company chest to share stuff through their alts. And this is something I do right now, sadly... =/ I only have a FC for my alts to share stuff and put their gils to a united use.

I only have this FC for that reason and I would not have it if I could be able to send mogmails to my alts at will... =/

Why I don't get a personal house on different servers with my alts. I'll make a small FC for them and a few select friends. Not being able to share a house is simply ridiculous

Minions should be account wide. Gil should be easily transferred between characters on the same account. Housing should be shared across account. Same goes for gear, materia and other basic stuff. I love this game, but having everything unlocked on 1 char is just plain weird to me. I'd like to play different races, like Viera and Au-ra, but starting over without help from a main character is just dreadful.

In that WoW did better. Pets, mounts, gold, gear, flying once unlocked on a main, the alts had it too.

in SWTOR they made an interesting thing for our characters there: the option to make them relatives. There is like a social-tree where you can place each of your chars in the screen. In this way, one could be the father/mother of the other, or brothers, or whatever. You can ropleplay them based on this and it's a nice incentive for RP there.

In the same game, as someone already told, we share the same inventory (bank) with all our chars in the same server. And a lot of achievments comes from the "Legacy" system (all things you open in this system is valid for all chars in the same server like mounts, boosts, outfits, etc). It's similar to the Veteran Rewards here in XIV, but far better for alt lovers.

The alts here could receive more love, as well as RP, so... it would be cool if we have something similar to these here, don't you think?

But I recall playing another MMORPG something like 10 or so years ago that basically had all your characters made on the same sever be something akin to family or roommates. The account itself tracked quest progress and completion, they all lived in the same house, shared the same stash/storage chest, etc..

It wasn't really graphically intensive. Cute anime-ish visuals with an angled top down view similar to Secret of Mana that was rotatable. Basically kind of typical of alot of F2P MMORPGs that came from various countries in Asia at the time.
