Agree with this. Made an alt, had to buy the story skip to prevent myself from sloughing through it. Guess that's the point.
The most I miss all the glams I bought :/

They've made a lot of effort to make it very alt friendly recently. Unlocks are account wide. Even to the point you can skip large MSQ milestones on the alt if you've already finished it.

I disagree, I'm new to WoW but was able to make several alts and keep global unlocks and MSQ progress on the account itself. It's VERY alt friendly now. I don't know or care what past experiences were like. We deal with the now.

Some would argue that the game is already alt friendly by eliminating the need for alts by allowing one character to have all jobs and crafting/gathering classes, unlike WoW. The only need for an alt now would be if you wanted to play in different regions, which few players do.

So what is "where it counts" and give examples of other MMORPGs that do it.

Asking FFXIV to be alt-friendly is like asking for more homeruns in football. It just isn't how the game is designed. If you want homeruns, watch baseball. If you want slam dunks, watch basketball. If you want alts, you probably need to look at another game.

Some changes would be nice, like mailing alts or giving them access to your personal house. Given that this just hasn't happened and we are nearing the 10 year mark of this game, we shouldn't expect that sort of change.
