You are almost always moving when you're doing them, whether it's to get the positional or getting in range. Moving them to face buttons frees up your left thumb to remain on the stick.
I do what I do, and you do what you do. I ackowldege people will want to change their buttons accordingly, but I have no problem with the way I have my stuff set-up. If you think ahead and predict movements better, you can put buttons anywhere you want.
