    Any tips for new monk?

So while my mnk is 55 at the time of this posting, I've been wondering if anyone has some tips for during better DPS? Let me preface this by saying that I have no intentions of maining monk, but at the same time, I do want to do my best with it. Any help or tips would be appreciated!

    Some questions I have are:
-Should I cross class Fracture, and if yes, how often should I use it?

-When is a good time to charge up Chakra mid pull?

    Thanks for any tips!

I'm not a master monk but hold my own alright. One of the biggest things is making sure you are always facing target, either from lock-on or using strafe set-up, since auto-attacks are a huge chunk of monk damage, outside of just knowing your rotation really well. As for fracture, in some cases it's a damage increase but really only then, it's not something you want to try to keep up 100%. Check the monk thread for more specifics there as I choose to avoid using it since I'm not crystal clear myself on when it's good/when it's bad. For chakra, I think the only time you'd want it use it during your combos is if you are only 1 stack away, otherwise it's a dps loss, always try to charge between pulls/when dodging when you're actually going to have a break from damage.

I'm sure there are more intricacies that a monk main can provide insight on. I really like monk and enjoy optimizing, but I just don't have the experience with monk as I do with drg.

Fracture is a DPS increase but only when meeting certain criterias.
Is DK/TS up and will be up until they are reset? Will you miss a tick of Demolish/ToD? Will you have enough TP to last the whole fight? If any of these are no then fracture is a loss. It has the lowest DoT potency and therefore isn't worth sacrificing for either ToD or Demo. Losing the buff from DK/TS is also loss in damage. Due to it's TP requirement TP is also drained quicker than it would if you didn't use fracture.

As for chakra using it when you have 4 stacks is a potency increase, but don't do this after popping IR/BfB. So either use it before popping them or after they have run out.

GL3>Chakra so focus on getting to Couerl form during down time before stacking chakra.

Fracture has always been a DPS increase. It was out of favor in 2.x due to the TP cost. Thanks to having both a 400 TP restore, and a 300 TP restore, many say that Fracture is now worth using.

Personally, I like to use Forbidden Chakra while buffed with IR, BfB, and BB. That is also about the only time I like to use Fracture - it's not a big enough DPS increase for the TP cost otherwise, IMO.

You should be at 5 Chakra stacks when you start an encounter, for use either in restoring 300 TP or in using Forbidden Chakra. The only time it is worth building stacks mid-fight is if you are forced out of Melee range to avoid an AE, or if the enemies pull some disappearing act on you.

Only time I charge up meditation stacks is pre pull, during invuln period and when invig is on cool down and i don't have enough tp to use my next ability. One meditation stack is enough to delay my gcd enough to restore the tp needed for my next ability and I continue this until I reach 5. This way you're less likely to lose GL3. Realistically the only time I use purification is on A2S. Every other encounter has enough downtime where you won't need it if you have BRD/MCH/NIN in the party.

As far as dps goes, don't fall into the lazy rotation of using the 3 flank moves, 3 rear moves, 3 flank, 3 rear, repeat.
