Something disturbing I noticed in the Aetherochemical facility

Since we are talking here about the Aetherochemical Research facility I would like to ask a question here. Specialy for you Moose, I would like your wisdom.

What is the Marvyn ? That giant thing at the entrance of the facility.

This is something that, I think, It was never answer before.

Well, it looks like some kind of.. weird, van Der Graf generator with delusions of grandeur, but the name sounds more like a Douglas Adams reference, so I don't know. This little mystery has me intrigued now!

I actually have no idea what the Sphere of Marvyn is. I know that's what it is - specifically the sphere - but that's it.

I figured Marvyn was the Allagan equivalent to HAL or something, probably just the facilities super computer... At the very least I figure it's either the boss node that (has failed to) keep all systems in check, or it's just another part of Azys Llas legacy as a tourist attraction, a tour guide or information node for the facility (or the facilities super computer on display as an exhibit; "This is Marvyn, he helps our researchers calculate pi and such"). Real shame we couldn't interact with it, I really would like to know what exactly it is...

Im really curiois about what is this thing and its function.
This structure could not be there and nobody would care, it has nothing to do with the playble progress of the dungeon. Its not an area or boss.
Why would give a name at something that is not relevant with the rest?

Its has to be something, that Marvyn is something. Its weird no one explained us what it is, it well could be a super computer or an engine.

Do you happen to have a screen of it? I can't run the dungeon at the moment, so I can't make a comparison, but there is one very large image in the artbook with a (paraphrased) description "We wanted to make it look like a monument in an entrance hall" that takes up half a page.

I don't want to get your hopes up, though, it may be completely different.

Yep, that is what was described in the huge picture. The exact quote says:
"This was a monument for the research facility, intended for placement within a large building or entrance hall."

The "monument" part is being pointed at at the bottom, the circular area.

I'll be able to take a picture of the book for you in about 10-12 hours. I don't think the design notes will be of much help, but I'll post them anyway. If anyone else has the book and can post it before me, it's on page 250.
