[newbie question] Machinist equipment at level 50

My main is SMN lvl 52, enjoying it until I unlocked Heavensward and Machinist job.

Since there's no AF1 quest, how do you equip your Machinist when you hit lvl 50?

i120 Ironworks gear bought with Poetics, supplemented by the i115 gear bought from vendors in the Foundation.

This leads to a second question : will my item level be enough to farm poetics on my mch?

If you have allied seals (from hunts) you can buy ilvl 100 gear from the allied seals vendor at your grand company headquarters. You can use that until you get better stuff, it should get you through most lvl 50 content just fine.

Progressing through Heavensward story quests and sidequests gives you plenty of high quality gear for at least two jobs as I recall. At two level intervals through 58.
