Help with getting on restricted server?

I'd really like to play this game with my GF, but we don't want to start on another server (I've been on Balmung since launch).

Are there any tricks to getting her on (other than camping off-times)?
She has been checking offtimes every day for 5 days now, with no real luck.

We don't mind paying extra. But I keep reading conflicting information.
Can she just register a game card and then transfer from a diff server after 3 days?
Or does she have to wait the 30 days trial regardless?

And can you transfer to a server that has character creation restricted?

She's getting to the point where she just wants to try a different MMO due to all the frustration (understandably). So any help would be awesome.

I'm not sure about the account limitations with transferring a character, but I do know it is possible to transfer a character to a server that is currently listed as 'restricted' - it is how I got to Balmung myself, I was originally on Ridill (my old 1.0 server), and I ended up transferring to Balmung along with my friends and family, and I had no trouble with the transfer process, no errors occurred and the transfer was immediate.

So I think it's pretty safe to say that transferring an existing character to a server that is listed as 'restricted' is definitely possible.

Account wise, I pay my subscription with a debit card instead of a prepaid time card though which might explain why I had no issues transferring, hence I have no idea if time cards can be used for 'one-off' payments such as server transfers - my guess is they do not sadly.

Is this part a reference to the Free Trial? There is an actual Free Trial for players who have not purchased the game. It lasts 14 days and has a lot of restrictions on what you can do. (I'm assuming world transfers would fall into the micro-transactions limitation of that trial.)

The 30 days that come with purchase of the game are sometimes referred to as a free period, but it is in fact a full featured subscription to the game with all the same privileges that you extend to longer periods by paying additional subscription fees. If your GF has a purchased/registered copy of the game, she should be able to make a character on another world and transfer it to Balmung after 3 days. She just needs to meet the eligibility requirements listed here:

This is correct. Game cards are for game time only. If you wish to transfer, then you'll have to use a debit or credit card.

Fortunately, you guys should have no issues getting her to Balmung after she creates her character (and waits 3 days of course). In the meantime, I'd make a temporary character wherever she starts out at and have fun together!

I don't know if it's true but I heard you can get on a character on a restricted server if you do it right after maintenance or patch. Not sure though.

With regard to character creation restrictions; I can't specifically remember for Balmung, but I know that on Behemoth - which is regularly restricted for character creation - SE seems to cycle through the servers on an almost weekly basis, flipping them from restricted to open and then back again. Normally that restriction is based on the zone population in the starting zones (if I remember correctly from their explanations way, way back at the start of ARR). Sometimes you can be fortunate to get on in the wee small house if the lockout is done by the server based on load. But when they specifically announce a server is character creation restricted, it won't open on it's own like that. You need to wait for the restriction to be lifted.

Transfers are a different kettle of fish though.

That's how I got an alt on Gilgamesh without creating it on one server and then transferring. Usually there's a period of 1 to 3 hours after a maintenance (excluding major patches) where you can get onto the more populated servers. This is usually around 2 to 3 AM PST though.

My entire FC transfered to Gilgamesh last spring. A couple friends from our old server (Goblin) have made Alts on Gilgamesh to play with us. It was the same deal, just have to hit that small window each week when you can create the characters.
