Suggestion: add lantern/ torch minion/ action.

Add a lantern/ torch minion, or action, that will light the area around you when it's activated. Attach it to a quest chain of some sort where you have to gather materials and have a npc (i'm thinking Goldsmith) craft it for you. It gets rather dark in the wee hours of the morning in Eorzea. What do you guys think?

There is already a minion that lights up the area, it's the wind-up sun, you poke it to make it fly higher/lower. Downside is that it doesn't move around with your character. Still, it's good for when you need to take screenshots.

It also isn't visible but emits light still when you hide the ui

I wouldn't actually call this a downside for its purpose.

...SE might still take suggestions for a moving light minion. But in their shoes... I would be watching it for performance issues very closely. (Keeping in mind the PS3 is still supported and even on more capable machines, many such minions in a crowded area might still be a bit rough.)

I got the wind-up sun minion. You're right, it's good for screen shots and that's about it. it doesn't even put off that much light.

It puts off a lot of light, especially in the Dark where your character reflects almost too much light.



I can't see why you'd think it's too dim. Contrarily I'd prefer it be dimmer.

He might be referring to the falloff. It's pretty bright, especially close, but it falls off very rapidly.
