Loot rules for 24 man content are that if you don't roll, and timer expires, it goes to a random person that didn't roll, if you are only person that didn't roll, than you get it. At least that's how I understand it, I always roll asap on loot.

They did change it though so that if everyone else in your party leaves, loot won't auto drop till you roll on it.

Honestly though, if you are getting stuck with gear because you were too busy to pass on an item in the time allotted, I feel no pity for you.

it used to be that way, but they changed it. you can't get stuck with gear you don't want anymore.
