Question from an inexperienced player

So I'm trying to become a black mage, and I'm aware I've got to get archer to lvl 15 before I can. My question is how to I even begin that process? I'm 35 in thaturmage, and I'm 5 in fishing, but when I go to the archers guild I can't find any quest that helps me become an archer and I can't equip a bow. Anyone know what I need to do? Thank you.

Archer's Guild, talk to front desk, should have a "!" then you go into a back room, talk to buddy with the other quest symbol(a wing? eff if I know) then you're prompted to reply yes, take weathered bow, equip, talk to buddy again, voila you're an Archer! Follow that up with class quests, fates and leves and youll be 15 in no time. At some point, lvl 50+ youll want to level it again to get quelling strikes or tanks will not like you very much because you're soo powerful.

When you travel the cities just be sure to unlock all classes, both battle and craft. Even if you are not going to play them at least they are unlocked for later in case you need to or decide you want to try it out. It doesn't hurt anything and just increases the number of gear sets you can have

And completely congest your Armoury if they aren't sharing gear. But Anima is right. Just unlock everything, even if you're not going to use them

Don't worry, you can always come back later to get them, they never vanish or anything
It's just more convenient to unlock them when you are in town anyway, because you might not be back in a while.

And, like Anima said, you can use a greater number of gear sets the more classes you have unlocked.

You can unlock them whenever you want, they'll always be there.

You can just throw away those level 1 gears if you don't plan to immediately level the class right away. All of those weapons are available from NPC vendors in their respective cities.

Unlocking all the gear sets is definitely a good idea. It's one of the first things I did when ARR launched.
