I only give comms if I'm impressed by someone....you know, to "commend" them?

What party member will you commend if a tank pulls 6-10 packs of mobs and the party live through this pull and win? Will it be Tank for proper use of his CDs, evading AoE and holding agro? Maybe it will be Heal for keeping party alive? Or it will be DD (alas only 1 of them) for doing good DPS and killing all mobs before healer run out of mana? And bear in mind that if any of them fail the entire party will die. So, which member of this imaginable party will impress you? :-)
Depends... ran with a great group that did exactly that a few days ago. It was much fun.
I wanted to comm them all but in the end I gave it to the healer, because "I really wouldn't've wanted to be that guy". In fact for runs like this I wish we had MORE comms to give out.
The problem is assuming every run like this is great and every run has people that deserve to be comm'd. Many times, I have runs that nothing stands out, not even names or glamours. What do I do then? No comm for anyone, it's not that they are "lost" which is what the thread is implying, I just won't comm anyone.

I have a grading system in my head that has a number of factors as to who gets my commendation
player being female (lalafells and roe's don't apply, yes i know I'm shallow)
how playful people are with me (mind you due to another member of the community I'm less playful in dungeon)
player glamour
if players can rescue me from myself
so short version begin most of the time i give the commendation to the healers

I'm laughing at how picky some people can be about something so little like a commendation. It's not like commendations are a super rare, extra valuable thing that should only be handed out to the best players. They are a way of saying "Nice, we had a great run, and I praise my fellow player to that", it's not like a recommendation for future content, geez, people can't even see how much comms we have.
In this case, my 'own job etiquette' comes in. If I'm the Healer in this type of run, I'll always commend the Tank, because his job is the most difficult one in the party, at least to my understanding. What party member will you commend if a tank pulls 6-10 packs of mobs and the party live through this pull and win? If I'm tanking or DPSing, it will be always a commend to the healer, because, well, he's the one keeping us alive. I only give DPS comms when both tank/healer are absolute jerks. Also, I don't like getting comms as DPS, as I feel like my job is too easy to be commended, especially when I'm playing Bard.

In regards to people leaving before I can give a commendation, would be nice if there was a feature that allowed you to vote for people even after they left, dunno if it's worth the effort though to implement since I'd imagine it'd be rather difficult.
Someone doing their job like they're supposed to is really not worth commending for me. Usually I'm just lazy, though.
Considering the average numbers people pull as a DPS in dungeons, DPS seems the hardest job by far, even though all they need to do is to press a couple of buttons in the right order. Tanking is exactly the same as DPS, except you hit a cooldown to die slower instead of killing stuff faster. Healing the whole dungeon can be done with only two or three buttons when a health bar or two moves. In this case, my 'own job etiquette' comes in. Or so the story goes.
Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.

I find the pressure to hold hate, deal decent damage and use cooldowns wisely to survive very high. Personally, I always feel anxious when tanking, because it's like everyone wants the tank to be perfect. So that's why, if I'm healing, the Tank will always be given comms.
And healing with 3 buttons is impossible, even in the Expert Dungeons. If someone says they can heal the pull just before we enter the Hive in Arboretum (5 ants, 1 turtle, 5 bees) with 3 buttons, they're lying.
The only time I give commendations is for the challenge log if I'm leveling a class. The other times I either don't commend people because I end up tanking everything as dps or healer or I have the highest dps as tank or healer, or I'm trying to avoid all the bad people in df and queue with a pre-made group and can't commend anyone anyway.

I always comm good bards, because playing Bard well is very hard.
Anyone can mash buttons and run around, but actually playing well? Nah brah, good bards are rare.
Also I'm biased.
