Is it possible to save the game download to an external location?

I want to reset my laptop to factory settings for a multitude of reasons. But it takes about 12-15 hours for me to download the entire game. I was wondering if it's possible to actually save the downloaded files somewhere (I have a big enough external) so that I can just copy them over after the wipe, and then install the game?

Haven't been able to find any info on this, but any help is appreciated!

(Also, side note, I don't want to install the game to an external drive, I want to put it back on my PC after the wipe, and am hoping to avoid the mega download times since I technically already have the game downloaded...)

you can copy them to the external and send them back when done.

i do this with other big file games so i did not waste my internet cap of 170 gigs when i did have the cap. so a 14-30+ gig game would be just to much each month. so i would copy the files. when done copy them back and let the game update what it needed to. which is can be as low as 40 megabytes as it is just checking and seeing if the files are not out of date.

I think maybe she's asking which directory holds all of the patch data, so that if she backed it up, she only needed to backup one folder and its contents.
