Add another weapon to each class

OK so I see a few people complain that there is no diversity between the jobs. Example all WHM are a like. So why not have all jobs able to equip a another weapon and with new skills giving each job two different play styles. So I could play Bard with a bpw and be dps or play as a healer bard with a flute. Here are examples or ideas.

PLD-(Mace and Shield) People want blunt damage so give it a Mace to pld, could stay as a tank or go dps.
    WAR-(Great Hammer) Same as pld.
DRK-(Sythe) Everyone wants a DRK dps so give it a syth and and call it a day.
MNK-(Pole arm)Think MNK like in other RPGs using fast movements with staff like weapons.
    NINJA-(Shuriken)-Think yuffie ff7.
DRG-(spear and shield) it keeps the spear but add a shield for tanking.
BRD(Flute)-Give Brd a flute and make it a healer.
    MCH(wrench)-more blunt damage.
BLM(Scepter)-Bring them back and add something to it and use it in one weapon slot(crystal or something)
SMN(I donk know this is hard)
SCH(same as SMN but Measures may work)
WHM(Wands)-same as BLM give it something else and put it in one slot a Bell could be a idea.
AST(Cards)-Use the cards them selves for more dps think ACE ff type-O.

This would ruin any identity that the job has, and would also be a nightmare to implement if you are talking about jobs changing roles (at which point I'd much rather have a new job). Sorry, but this will never happen, the devs have even dropped support for 1 handed WHM and BLM wands because they don't like this.

To incorporate more diversity I would rather see ability customization, specialization or evolution. Being able to augment existing abilities to use them in a new or different way.

So let's re-design each class from the ground up? Yeah should be done real quick....>_>.

Seriously, this game needs content, not a re-skin of a class or a new weapon. We desperately need things to do, not just different ways to do the same tired old content.

1 raid every 6 months? Not cutting it
2 New dungeons every 3 months? Not cutting it
1 24 man raid every 8-10 months? Not cutting it

The reason people are burning out is because content is dwindling and its rarely unique when new content is finally released.

I'm all for more varied weapon skins. Saying a class has 'identity' from its weapon is pretty absurd. A warrior would still be a warrior if you gave them a size appropriate polearm or warhammer. The -animations- give the classes identity, and most of the animations on some classes can easily fit multiple weapons, since they're impractical fighting styles anyways.

Except you're actually falling into the trap of not understanding the whole concept of the Armoury System that underlies FFXIV's battle system. This is not FFXI's Job System where you have a Job and multiple types of weapons that can be equipped, usually with Jobs having varying degrees of proficiency in them. Here in FFXIV, the class/Job is the weapon - that's what the system has been about ever since day one, and thus Jobs build on that. Want to use a lance? You're a LNC/DRG. Want to use a gun? Equip MCH. Want to use a sword? That's GLA/PLD, etc etc. This is how it's been with FFXIV since the very beginning in 1.0, and how FFXIV will always be.

And before you pass judgement, players were actually asked whether to scrap the Armoury System in favour of FFXI's style Job system, or keep the Armoury System and just have Jobs piggyback on the existing classes. Players decided on the later. So for better or worse, the Armoury System and it's single weapon type per class/Job is here to stay I'm afraid.

You're not really...understanding what varied skins mean.

It means a sword is a sword, but it'll look like a mace. Or an axe. Or another suitable one-handed weapon. It doesn't change Paladin to 'Not-paladin'. It's literally a weapon skin. That's it.

A lancer won't use a musket, but they could use a staff. A Machinist won't be using a bow as it's one of those classes where the animations can't line up with anything but a musket. Same with bard.

Warrior? You throw a warhammer skin on that baby and it doesn't change a damn thing. (Cough cough titan axe).

-I'm- not saying give them multiple weapon types. I'm saying you can give more varied weapon -skins-, which accomplishes the same deal (letting a paladin use a mace, for example) without changing the class at -all-. By your logic, we might as well scrap the glamour system because 'Paladins wear plate, not bikinis.'

And in my opinion a tank should wear plate, scale or chain mail, but that is offtopic.^^

I would prefer a Berserk job for the Warhammer weapon skin, or a Necromancer or Void Witcher job for the scyth weapon skin, a real Knight job or Mercenery job for the mace skin. And please no single handed weapons, it is good they died for the mages.

Without a spear, a Lancer is not a Lancer anymore
Without a bow, an Archer is not an Archer anymore
Without a Sword, a Gladiator is not a Gladiator anymore (Since Gladiator litteraly means "Swordsman")

For the others...yes, the weapons is less iconic.

Remember, apart from DRK, AST or MCH, you're still gaining class XP.
