    U not really changing anything to be honest right now if we equip a staff we a white mage and when we equip a dagger we a ninja with all new different skills and traits so do the same. You have a great sword you are a drk and when you equip a sythe you still a dark but with all new different skills and traits. How many jobs can we bring to the game this could fix a few problems. For example if you really love dark but hate tanking than be a sps tank with a sythe

    ok, so I want to play DRK as a DPS in a raid, what skills do I have that benefit me as a dedicated DPS without new or modified skills being implemented? The best case scenario of this kind of system is already in the game in the form of SMN/SCH, and even then it is kinda clunky and has its problems with bonus stats, and the fact that adding a new class would actually probably take slightly less work as it would be easier to implement (on top of being entirely more interesting). Either way, the devs have made it very clear that they are moving away from this kind of system, and it only exists because 1.0.

    To counter your idea, I don't have a problem with diverse weapon types within the constraints of the job, and I think that would be great for glamour, for example, PLD has kite and square shields, and I would love to see more types of shield, BRD has shortbows and longbows and could see more diversity (crossbow is a large stretch due to animations, but it supports the idea), MNKs could have gloves as well as knuckledusters, and maybe more varied models for starglobes.

    This would be the most counterproductive thing...every weapon taken by an existing class would lock out the potential of a future new job, and for what? Either not enough change to the existing job to warrant it, or enough change it might as well not be the same job. No, just no.

    I like the idea. But it would work with the armory system here. Weapon = Class; Class + Soulstone = Weapon + Soulstone = Job.
    They can just make new weapon skins but...
    ...as more weapon skins you use for single classes/jobs you will automatically reduce the possible amount of weapon skins for new classes/jobs (no overlapping weapon skins between classes/jobs).
    ...some classes are fixed to a single design of weapon (Archer/Lancer) and if not all can get new skins noone should get new skins.

    I think this is wasting weapons that could be used for future jobs. :B
    Also, with the system you're suggesting, how would you translate some of these ideas? Like Bard turning into a healer when it has no healing skill? Or turning Dragoon into a tank when it has no defensive cooldowns other then Keen Flurry (which boosts Parry) and Marauder's Foresight? And then you have Tanks-turned-DPS that have all these defensive skills and cooldowns. Not to mention changing all the animations.

    It will be like adding a new job. Right know we have jobs with no a base class. So example I have a bow equipped am a BRD with skills and as soon as I equip a staff and a WHM with all new skills an traits .So it would be basically the same thing. U equip a flute u still a BRD but u have all new skills and traits like(like switching a new job) u will really just be bard by name Lol there are more than enough weapons to have new jobs. But I would like a healer with a flute lol

    i rather go with what dev team have going with. they system work we don't need change to make you happy. the arcanist was really problem you had chose to ether be scholar or summoner you couldn't be both. it better add new jobs, your suggest make players have chose as well it make the system more confusing for players. see summoner is full int, the scholar is full mind you can't be both.

    Except that, at high level/ilvl, the bonus points in either INT or MND doesn't really make any difference.

    And both SCH and SMN are very powerful jobs.
