Geekfest 2016 - FFXIV Recruiting Event ~ Need your ideas and your support!

I attended the community planning meeting for Geekfest, a convention that is an annual scholarship fundraiser in my town at the local campus scheduled to be the 12th of August to the 14th. I brought up my interest in running a large-scale FFXIV event in conjunction with Geekfest and most if not everyone was excited about it. Here's my problem: I got no idea what I'm doing. So now I turn to you, my ever most humble community of Lamia, for suggestions. Has anyone attended large-scale events before based on FFXIV? Any things you liked about Fan Festival and FATEs that you may have attended? What would you as a player be interested in seeing, and would think people who've never seen the game before be interested in seeing/doing that would spark their desire to subscribe? Any help would be appreciated.
