PSA: Divine Seal and Synastry affect your HoT spells

Too many times now I've run into healers in DF at lvl 60 who still think that Divine Seal and Synastry don't affect the potency of your Heals over Time spells. I'm starting to think there's some guide out there that explicitly states "YOUR HoTS WILL NOT HAVE INCREASED HEALS UNDER THESE BUFFS".

Please, new healers, I know you're new, but learn to read your tooltips. And if I am trying to give helpful advice, don't yell at me to 'go play a healer if I wanted to be bossy'. If I'm advising you to use Divine Seal > Regen, or put your faerie on Obey, I'm not trying to bully or demean you. I'm only trying to help.

P.S. I'm well aware that Asylum and Collective Unconscious are NOT affected by the buffs, but case in point; they are abilities, not SPELLS.

They probably misunderstood someone saying that Divine Seal and Synastry don't affect HoTs you have already used, just like Raging Strikes or Blood for Blood don't affect DoTs you've already used. A lot of people have absolutely no idea of what's going on while healing, sadly.

I wish more people would experiment with moves when they first get them. I spend time at the fc house experimenting with what effects what when unlocking a new ability.

But for Diurnal Astrologian and White Mage, Synastry>HoTs or Divine Seal>HoTs is one of the most basic way to heal in dungeons and raids, kind of makes you wonder how they havent figured that out by lvl 60. Mind you, i still see D.AST and WHM in DF just flat out not use any kind of HoT.

Can you believe that some tank was telling me to let Eos on sic some weeks ago?
I explained that I need to control her CDs for optimal use, but he kept insisting to leave her on sic. I don't have a problem letting Selene on sic for dungeons, she manages her CDs better than I do, but Eos? Would I ever...

Abilities aren't affected by healing buffs and debuffs (which is handy in a few fights), only Spells are. Check your tooltips if unsure, they specify whether an action is considered a Spell or an Ability.

Yep, HoT spells are snapshotted with the buff just like DoTs. Not sure why it's difficult for some out there to realize that. Same with tank popping Convalescence, it would only affect newly applied heals/shields/regens on them.

Maybe they wanted that Auto-Whispering Dawn every minute, lol. Thankfully they are not a SCH main because otherwise they would know it is required to be on obey to force manual embrace spam.

I have never, not once, seen a WHM use Divine Seal outside of a static.

I use it all the time in dungeons, so this completely baffles me when I play BLM. It's an amazing skill.

The PSA should be more: USE DIVINE SEAL WHEN IT'S UP, DON'T LET IT WASTE AWAY.

My Friends and I tested all the Ast and WHM skills with them.

Synastry and Divine Seal affects the Healing Spells So...
OGD and HoTs that you already used are not affected by Divine Seal and Synastry.
GD and HoTs applied to the target during Divine seal and Synastry are affected by them.
thats why all new healing skills from WHM are not affected and essencial dignity either.

(all off globals are considered Abilities and all Globals are considered Spells)

(Edited) we didn't test convalecence but I think it works with all the Spells and Abilities with the same rule as the HoTs and GCDs since it affects the amount healed not the healing spell used.

On the topic of HoTs, can we add "Do not use an AoE HoT before a pull" to the list? ;D I still see so many people doing this and just wonder what thought process they went through to come up with that decision.

And slight side note on that too, if you are lucky enough to get one of those healers, remember to just right click the regen icon off if you're on PC.
