    New to PvP

Hello Everyone, I'm newish to the game (played during 1.0 and been trying to catch up) I really want to get into PvP action but before I go entering any battle and ruining a match by not knowing anything I wanted to ask if you guys know of some sort of guide I should read or if you can give me any advice in PvP for this game (I mainly want to play as tank).

I was a regular in FFXI ballista, I dont know if some of the strategies or game play there can apply here to give me a more detailed idea or if it is a totally different play style.

    Thanks in advance!

Hey I think I've seen your name around Hyperion, actually!
As a tank class, you won't be doing much tanking in PvP. Rather, you're usually going to be the interrupter.
If you're looking to be hit a lot and attract everyones attention, you'd want to be a healer class!

In Wolves Den, and Frontline Slaughter, especially as a Paladin, your main objective is to stop the opposing mages, focusing on the healer.
In Frontlines Secure and Seal Rock you'd be doing the same during a fight, but also you'd likely want to stay behind to protect outposts and tomeliths, depending on the mode you're playing.

Don't forget to equip your pvp skills. Paladin gets Testudo, a party-wide defence buff and Glory Slash + Push Back is great for defending a cliffside.

Now these are all just very basic tips based on your PLD level 50 class you have set there. There is a lot more intricate tips you'd probably best pick up during actual gameplay. The Feast is just around the corner too, so I'm sure there's something new for everyone to learn.

Yeah I was planning on going as PLD or WAR as soon as I finish leveling that, thanks for the tips I guess I'll get the hang of it once I start doing PvP. Also would you mind sharing info with me regarding lvl cap PvP? Are there for several levels or is it 60 only? And if there are indeed lower level matches do people actually participate in those?

Hope to see you too around while playing!

There is level 50 PvP still, however, people usually on get those from Roulette so it's not that active... mainly you're gonna be playing 60 PvP. The iLevel is capped at i150 so that gives you a chance to mix and match lower iLevel gear to maximize your secondary stats. Aetherial/Pink/Diadem gear DO NOT give secondaries stats, just main stats.

If you are going to play tank, PLD is more of a supportive role and can really help lock down healers. Cover is very helpful if used right. WAR have A LOT of survivability. Fel Cleave hits like a truck... I crit over 5k without Battle High/Fever. You can also Purify your own Holmgang. Also tank LB is a big damage reduction, don't underestimate it.

On top of the 60 PVP, feel free to queue for Wolves' Den matched synced parties on Fridays, starting 8pm EST. You should get at least a few pops then. It's shorter and more intense than Seal Rock matches. Some people love it, some people can't stand it.
