Ideas for little class features...

So IMO one of the things that sets this appart from other MMO's are all the little details that make it feel like a living breathing world. I am an unashamed sucker for these kinds of minute details and as such have some suggestions.

Class based activities! So my idea started when I was wandering around as a gladiator trying to find out how you enter the Colosseum/Coliseum and found that I couldn't. So my idea is this would it not be fun if there were little things that you could do like this? Enter a fight for Gill as a Gladiator, have an Archery contest as an archer etc? Since you can be all of the classes I just think it would be fun little detail to have added in so that the world feels more alive. Of course it could be PvE/PvP or both, which offers even more choice, just a little something each class has that involves it more in the world and brings it to life, something unique and different for each one that fits its classes theme and ethos.

Despite this being probably too late, I think something like what you are suggesting would be nice for roleplay. I would be glad to use my powers as a white mage in a hospital or something like this.

I now that what you mean. We should have a solo pvp. So on the Coliseum you should enter on two modes. The Guest or The Wanted player. Player who goes on Wanted mode should receive a Wanted Vintage with the Name,Race, And char Aniversary. The reward for the Wanted Player would be better because many people wants his head on Coliseum. If he suviver to 5 fights he won a great reward. Also you could call your friends as a viewer to cheer for you.

Ironically the class quests for GLA in the original version of FFXIV (1.0) (of which there were only three), actually did involve the Colosseum and are close to what you want - during the quests the player was required to track down potential new fighters for the Colosseum, and actually got to fight in it against another npc, and it wasn't just a straight 'tank and spank' either, at points in the battle you actually had to stop fighting and do emotes to the crowd to appease them or earn their favour, otherwise you failed the duty. I admit I was very disappointed when I did the GLA class quests in ARR and found not only did I not go anywhere near the Colosseum, I was basically just being used as a 'rent-a-cop'. But I'm not bitter.

Regardless I think the Colosseum could be useful for both 1x1 PvP and a FFVII-style PvE battle arena, as long as it was limited and separate to the main game itself (that is, to participate you physically have to speak to a npc at the Colosseum instead of just going up to someone random in the street and picking a fight with them).

Thank you all so much for the replies I am glad its not just me that thinks this would be a cool way to add depth to the world rp and pvp experiance. I just feel every class should have a little something different. Working in a hospital would be great as a healing class. The unicorn mount is a nice little thing but with a Colosseum just sitting there its begging for a cool little instance I feel. It doesn't have to be huge for each class just a little something to tie them more into the fabric of the world. Enkidoh what you are on about with the emotes sounds amazeballs! The_Greatest_Evil that poster Idea so much. I think the Colosseum could be used for so much, 1v1 pvp and pve for all and then the old GLD quests with tweaks for the gladiators only (GLD V GLD COMP or player) There could even be boards with popular gladiators listed and stuff... So much potential
