    New player help please

I'm new to the game and I've pretty much just been doing quests and stuff. I don't really know what I'm doing other then that. I've never played an mmo before. I got accepted in to a FC but have no idea what to do. I see forums of people playing together and doing things together but I don't really know how to do it lol yes I'm sorry I am that new!

Pretty much what you are currently doing, follow the Main Story Questline (MSQ) is a priority. Side quests, fates, and leves are filler experience points to get you to the next MSQ check, which can be locked behind a minimum lvl. Class quests and later Job quests are important for unlocking key abilities for your class. Also if you have joined an FC, great, but if they do not help you, chat with you, or at the very least have the Heat of Battle XP buff up, you're better off leaving and allowing yourself the chance to join a more helpful FC. Keep at it, enjoy the Main story bc it's a good one, and happy leveling!

Your first priority as a new play should be levelling your character class and completing the Main story quest (quest icons with sun blaze shape).
The vast majority of the player base is at the current end of the main story.
The story and side quests are generally a solo activity, while people parties for dungeons/raids/fates/hunts/etc....

Do every quest you come across, as this will unlock several things. Check the Recommendations every time you enter an area for available quests.

Use the duty finder for random groupings.
Use the party finder for specific activities - usually end game raiding of nature or another.

You have joined a very large FC, which is usually a good choice for a new player.
Ask your FC for a crafters to make you levelling gear. An FC crafter will usually charge you 1/4 or less sometimes the Market Board price for HQ gear; not that you really need HQ gear, it just makes things easier.
Ask your FC to take you through each dungeon the first time you unlock it. These days, there is very little shortage of "helpful" high level players because of the bonus available from your first completion and the rewards they get related to the current Relic weapon quest.

Thanks you so much that is so helpful! I didn't know the markers with the blaze shape were main story! So basically all the group raiding and such doesn't really matter to me this early. Get further in the story and all that will fall in to place?

Correct; for the most part, your MSQ unlocks all the content in the game, with a few exceptions, but you are pointed to those anyways. Your real true focus right now is to hit 30 with your THM, then switch to archer and level that to 15(class quest, leves, and fates help here, same with sidequests) then back to THM to unlock Black mage and away you go to 50. Keeping your MSQ up to date will save you a lot of backtracking later on.

Ok stupid question what is MSQ? I actually started off as archer so I'm at level 17 with the archer and 22 with THM.

Well, going by the gear shown for your character on the Lodestone, it appears you've at least gotten through some of the first set of dungeons, so you must have played together with a group at least a time or two when you earned those Acolyte's gloves and boots. So, you're a level 23 thaumaturge, and somewhere in the level 16-20 range on where you're at within the Main Scenario quests.

As for not knowing what you're doing apart from quests and such, the quests themselves (particularly the Main Scenario ones with the flaming ring around the quest icon) should lead to and introduce most of the other activities in the game, just as they led you into doing dungeons when a quest told you to go into Sastasha. Once they've been unlocked through their corresponding quests, dungeons can be repeated by selecting them again from the Duty Finder, and they're a major source of the content people run together in groups.

If you want to make friends and play together with people you'll come to know, rather than with whoever is randomly selected by Duty Finder, your FC should be a good source for that. Ask in FC chat if anyone wants to run some of the low-level dungeons together. Invite whoever agrees to your party. (Duty Finder is still used to actually enter dungeons even if you're not using it to find you a random party. If you put a party together yourself and then join a dungeon in DF, your party will go into it together.)

Does your FC hang out at your FC house much? If so, that's another place you can get to know some of them in a non-dungeon setting.

Use chat to get to know people, and in the meantime, continue going through the Main Scenario quests to both see the game's story and unlock more of its content. Also do your class quests each 5 levels.

Not sure what mechanics are still new to you, so just in case:

    FC chat, party chat, etc.:
There are two ways to specify which chat channel you want to use. You can click the little button at the bottom left of the chat window (the one with the dialog-bubble icon) to get a list of channels and select the one you want. Or you can prefix what you want to say with a slash and the name (or abbrieviation) of the channel. For instance, typing "/fc hello everyone" will send "hello everyone" to the members of your FC, while typing "/p hello everyone" will send it to members of your party.

    Inviting people to a party:
You can either select a player character when they're in front of you, select their name from the chat window, or select their name from the search window. Right-click on them if you use keyboard/mouse, or select them and press the square button on a PS3/PS4 controller to bring up a list of available actions, and one of those actions is "Invite to Party".

Main Story Questline(big meteor I think instead of normal "1" mark) and you're set then, just have to get THM to 50 now. Just make sure to finish class quests at 30 and grab you job quests starting at 30 and finishing at 60. I think it's one every 5 levels <50, every 2 levels 50<
