'A Raid Reborn': Setting up an LS dedicated to Synced runs through Coils/EXs?

It's a real shame that some of the game's finest examples of raid and trial content have been long-forgotten with the rush to clear friends through unsynced. Coil, with the exceptions of T5, T9 and T13 (for glamour's sake), appear to have been left in the dust, despite holding some of the game's arguably most interesting mechanics: T1's alternating Silences, T2's 'Hot Potato' game, T11's clock rotation, etc.

There is also the issue of the limited raid recruitment pool on Midgardsormr, particularly in the face of new raiding content in 3.2. Players have come and gone, taking a break from the game or joining groups on other servers. As such, while I have no doubt we have many players itching to join the raiding scene, there is little opportunity for new players to practice raiding in low-pressure environments - learning parties for old content are non-existent, and statics are hesitant to take along players without previous experience.

While it's certainly not for definite, I'm interested in gauging interest in an LS/Discord dedicated to re-challenging these fights in the manner upon which they were intended - synced, ideally all within the gear levels they were originally released for.

In my opinion, this would be a fantastic opportunity on many fronts:
    • New players who wish to learn/practice FFXIV 'raiding' in a relatively laid-back environment in order to prepare themselves for newly-released raid content.
    • Veteran players who want an opportunity to help groups of new players at a time, enrich the Midgardsormr community and bring some more trained blood to the raid recruitment pool.
    • Completionists who want to tick off achievements or pick up glamour gear.
    • Recently-joined players who either missed the Coils/EXs the first time around, or old-school players who wish to replay them *as intended*.
    • Poetics bonus hypeeeeeeeee!

Content-wise, I'd imagine all of the Coils would be applicable here, as well as perhaps some of the Extreme trial fights (particularly the challenging/underplayed ones) such as Ultima (Hard), Titan, King Mog and Leviathan.

I'm curious as to whether Midgardsormr (or even perhaps the wider Aether population if we play around with setting up DF parties...) would believe such a community would be legitimately worth setting up, or whether such a project would simply fall face-down on the ground and be a waste of time and effort.

Would there be other teachers and mentors willing to take the time to walk through old content? Would players be motivated to play for the fun factor, or would this be too easily outweighed by the desire for gear and glamour (referring to the severely underplayed fate of Second Coil Savage)? Would building an active and dedicated community, even a small one, truly be possible?

    What do you think?

While I can't speak on behalf of whether it would be worth setting up for new players trying to clear for the first time, I'd say it sounds like fun for veteran players who are bored and want to "relive the glory days" of clearing old content in minimum ilevel possible (as most of us had cleared it in way back when). Lots of new players have been successful in creating party finders for clearing BCoB and SCoB, but in "unsynched" level 60 cheesing, which is great and all, but not really challenging or fun?

Some friends and I have tried doing Levi EX synched a while back before and it was challenging and hilarious, so if you get more interest, I'd say go for it~

We've been talking about setting something like this up for our fc members who never did coil. Count me in!

From the standpoint of a player returning from Hiatus, I say the idea has merit and promise. Count me in, for all the good a level 39 Ninja will do in the short term.

Returning to the game, starting a new character, and running through the story content again up to the point I have, the idea of getting to experience the content I missed in the format where it would be a challenge is highly intriguing. The couple friends I've come back with are similarly enjoying themselves with the content, and I think they too would be very interested in the idea of the game having a backlog of content which can still be challenging and fun. And while I obviously can't speak for anyone other than myself and maybe my personal few friends, I would think there must be at least a few other latecomers to the game looking for a place to learn and some content to experience from patches prior.
