How do I meld and should I?

Forgive me if I'm resurrecting a dead thread, but I have a big question. Can you ask for someone else to do forbidden melding on your gear, or is forbidden melding something that you have to do by yourself?

Overmelds can also be done by "request meld". Mainstats such as STR/VIT/INT/MND/DEX are excluded as is oddly PIETY (supposed to be a mainstat... lol?).
New 220+ gear with tomes/token/raiddrop can only meld in save slots.

Wrote it down few days ago here and keep updating as I remember stuff.

Forbidden melding is called that for that reason, you can only meld the slot or slots, there are no hidden meld slots you can attempt.

Don't craft or buy MH OH or BODY . Get those as red scrip gear.

I find ariyala site confusing ,use garland tools and look for the item you wanna meld check stats and start melding from there.

I completely disagree. The ONLY pieces I've crafted are the main/offhands and chest. Each crafted tool can be melded with 4 extra CP, and each piece can be made with the equivalent of 1 (offhand) or 1.3(mainhand, chest) red crafter scrips in materials. So a total of 3.6 red crafter scrips plus some gathered/bought ooids, versus 70 red crafter scrips for the i180 set. That's almost 8 capped weeks of scrips! You can meld the crafter pieces to higher stats than the i180s using only grade IV materias. If you absolutely can't pull together the gil to do a few melds and are hell-bent on 3* crafts, maybe the i180s are an option, but I would never do it myself

Thanks!! It turned out my friend never did the quest for Advanced Materia melding XD, so my question was pointless in the end. You're too kind for the help, tho <3
