Third party UI support?

Of the many poor decisions the original development team made, this was one of the worst. It boggles my mind that ANYONE on the team thought that a server-side focused UI was a good idea when half the player base is on the other side of the world.

I never play WoW but I played Runes of Magic, a WoW clone and they have incredible 3rd party UI support, users enjoy creating alternate UI and share it with others

will/should it be possible in FFXIV?

3 main points...

-Evangela, you suck... again
-Se does not support any 3rd party software, even Ventrillo because 3rd party software to SE is the devil
-As this guy states below, they banned accounts in xi when they found 3rd party software used. Not just speed manipulation, even something as small as a distance to target add-on. Several old friends were banned.

Given SE's stance in FFXI I highly doubt that they will allow use of 3rd party tools and will actively pursue anyone using them. Also I do believe that it states in int EULA for FFXIV that they will not be allowed either.

Just like Benediction said, Yoshida said in an interview down the road he plans on making the game able to use 3rd party addons for UI and whatnot, my guess is they will build a script and allow players to download it and it will act like the old FFXI windower with some special modifications.

I'm not saying it is impossible, or will never happen. Just with SE's history, and the current setup of the user agreement I do not think it is likely.
