I never play WoW but I played Runes of Magic, a WoW clone and they have incredible 3rd party UI support, users enjoy creating alternate UI and share it with others
will/should it be possible in FFXIV?

I want this, i love to paint & design ; ;
I used to be Noomy...then i took shiva's Hail Storm to my knee...
Given SE's stance in FFXI I highly doubt that they will allow use of 3rd party tools and will actively pursue anyone using them. Also I do believe that it states in int EULA for FFXIV that they will not be allowed either.
I'm not really for or against it... but I do hope they seriously consider "rebranding" their current UI at least
templates to change visual look of the UI... i dont see the problem.
If SE supplies the templates, accept them as suitable.
Not saying they need help with visual improvements (Cuz SE already masters of this),
but well it might bring something new to the game.

Actually Yoshida said in one interview that he plans on eventually allowing add-ons like what other MMOs like WoW and stuff have. But their focus at the moment are major things like class and battle system, so.
Good to hear, I just really hope they learn how to place the graphic changes inside the game as well and the alt-tab issue before they worry about the add-ons of UI.
If Yoshisan make it possible I'll love him!
I'm all for this if it also decreases UI lag.
I'm just not sure how they plan on implementing it, the reason WoW can be customized is most of it's UI is client based, where as FFXIV is mostly server based "also why we get input lag".
It would be a very massive undertaking from what I understand to switch it from Serve to client side...
