    Castrum Meridianum train wrecks

I swear to everything that is holy, if tanks keep insisting on pulling EVERY SINGLE COLLOSUS in the final room before someone hits the searchlights...

I can't even begin to tell you how many train wrecks I've sat through on Castrum because tanks keep ignoring what the searchlights do. Did everyone just forget how to run the place in the past 3 weeks?

The last time I did Castrum Meridianum, it was maybe in 2014, so surely if a go there today, I will not remember anything and play like someone who never cleared it before. Is it the one with the female Garlean in a Magitek Armor at the end?

Classic, it's been awhile, but I recall the proper way to do it was to have a dps come with the tank so they can hit the searchlights, sprint back, then the tank groups everything up, pops those CDS and runs back to cannons for one big Kaboom parade. Again, I can't remember when I ran this last xD

Yes, proper way is to have a dps go with the tank, turn off search lights, and fire the cannons. I always follow the tank and throw out a quick chat saying that's why I'm following.

Honestly doesnt matter if you have cannons and properly use them. 3-4 shots kill them, there are 4 cannons that do the same amount of damage regardless of how many targets are hit.

You forget that the Collosus have a instant wrist shot area attack and Exhaust which targets a random non-maintank, with high chances being the people in the cannons (due to 4/10 being in them).
Now imagine the mess of having 6 or more sticking on the tank and they suddenly decide to shoot someone and/or slap their Exhaust onto the ones that operate the cannons.

They might be gone in a instant, and you end up with multiple Collosus dudes everywhere, smacking down the raid.

Again if you are using them properly all mobs vaporize in one wave of fire well beyond their effective range to hit you back. Actually the cannons when aimed properly can shoot slightly around the corner leading up to them, creating a line of sight issue for the mobs as well so they cant even initiate attacks on the cannon user even if they were in range. AS noted by Morbid the issue really isn't people doing things differently its people rushing and not keeping in mind or remembering, or even ever learning, why they are doing things that way.

I don't think any of my last 3 runs through have paid much if any attention to the mechanics or normal clear routines. My runs have been filled with relic hunting folks with like ilev200 gear just sweeping through everything. Might have one or two new people who get yanked through the entire run.

So yeah those mechanics are probably 'forgotten' as well as just being ignored.

Honestly with gear sync being twice what the dungeon is designed for you can pretty much steamroll through regardless

Nobody takes the time to explain the mechanics to new-to-the-instance players, so "Yes" everyone "forgot" how to run the place because they probably never knew the "right way." Most groups faceroll through the whole thing anyways, unfortunately. If you don't watch a video you're left sort of "picking up" the mechanics after a few runs, which can leave gaps.
