Is there anything I am missing or should I really go away?

Hi, first things first, this is not a whine topic, just something I felt like sharing as a passionate player and lover of the FF franchise. Please, try not to be rude on your responses.

I am a lalafell in game, main WHM. I'm what most people would call an average player on skill level, and a casual in terms of hours of play.

Currently, I find myself struggling to have fun in the game. I still love this game, with all its flaws, but since 3 weeks I started losing interest in everything.

I'm currently a lv.60 WHM, AST, SCH, SMN, BLM, BRD and 52 WAR with near all classes leveled at least to 30. I tried crafting (all crafters to 40, CRP to 55) but it's not my thing, same for gathering, with the little time I have, gathering is kinda boring, especially fishing.

I've tried all Gold Saucer attractions, collected 80 minions to try LoV but it's a pain to play on controller. Chocobo racing is great, but if I want to race, I could go with Mario Kart 8, a much better choice than the lane-changing chocobo racing system. Triple Triad is also great, but with the time restraints for battling some NPCs it becomes really difficult to me.

Also, I bought a house after the demolition. It kept me occupied, I was so happy when I was decorating it and sharing it with my friends, but now there isn't much I can do there (besides playing TT inside).

So, the thing is: is there some content I'm missing, outside of the hardest raids (wich I don't have the skill level to even try) or am I better quitting the game?

In all honesty, just need to find other games to pass time by when you "finish" the content you enjoy. I think quitting is an extreme, and just either taking a break or even keeping the sub going and play other games until you feel an itch to do a DF run (it does happen lol). I personally have a space sim game and various offline games I use when I'm not into XIV at the time. Usually within a few days I'll get the urge to come back and do something even if only for an hour.

Edit: Also, can try rolling an alt on a vastly different server. In example, one of the JP servers, while communicating will be a bit harder with auto-trans, its interesting seeing the playstyle differences.

Well, I would have never thought of Gold Saucer to take up so much space of your post on content to play. I usually write that off completely.

For me, I like to continuously improve, so I find the hardest content I can do and master that - and then attempt the next higher up. If you're finding Expert Roulette decent, try doing some EX Primals and see how it goes. If you can tackle them down, try out A1S.

Sometimes 'the hardest raids' can be daunting at first, but they are quite fun. I am sure you could get there if you wanted.

If the FC it's good they can help you on any ending game content. Doesn't matter how many times you die. Most of this ''badass'' lv 60 players with ilv 210 can even beat the Pitt Lord of Dark Souls for example. Try to get a FC that will help you to do anything on game. A FC that will help you even if you don't wanna to join with them on Team speak/skype or this others softwares. The truth it's that these people doesn't exist. If you wanna see if it funny or no the end game content, you will have to do it alone skillfully or not.
    Have a good night.

That's your answer right there. You shouldn't do things you don't enjoy. Pretty simple really.

If you have had fun with this game but are bored of grinding the same content over and over again currently, take a break and try something completely different and then return in 3.2 or 3.3 and have lot of fun with the new content.

I hope you find a good game, I am gonna go favor gathering now lol.

    Gaming like Life

    Fevelle,

I have been down the road your walking, and I will be the first to tell you that it is way to extreme of a decision to completely kill your account. Several have mentioned that you should find something else to do with your time after you have finished the content you want to do. This is the best advice for you.

With that said, when I got to a point of completely hanging up the controller and unsubbing for a while, I stumbled upon something that I never expected would actually be a great way to not only kill time in game, but also be somewhat profitable at the same time - Gathering.

I know that you have said its a killer, but it is a double edged sword of a killer. During 2.x progression I was (still am a total completionist with regards to the game) running all the dungeons and doing everything I could to get a DF group for BCoB. never got very far with it and did better overall running CT.

Now, I did get totally burned out, and decided I would give fishing a try. I am not a fisherman in real life, just flat can't keep myself still or patient enough to deal with it. Period. However, in game, it is the most relaxing way to kill a day, or an hour, or several hours. I also found that Botanist and Miner are also the same way. The nice thing about Botanist and Miner is the slight cloak and dagger gaming using Stealth to get around to nodes which I like...and usually start singing the Mission Impossible Theme from time to time as well.

If you have been going totally solo through the game and looking for an FC, look me up on the weekends CST. You don't have to join but I will be happy to hang with you and run content with you.

Also, in case you haven't finished the Beast Tribes, give those a go. The story line of each of them seems to be pretty good, and I haven't finished them yet either!

With all of this said, at the end, you have to decide one thing:

If I completely kill my account, will I be willing to do it all over again in a year or 5 years when the game has something that I really want to play again?

For me, the answer will always be no, I am not willing to start completely over. So I keep working it as I can between real life commitments and everything else Fate throws my way.

    Sincerely and Respectfully,

I see your problem. You're missing out on the most important thing in the game: Fell Cleave.

It's true. My enjoyment in raids is directly proportional to the amount of Fell Cleave crits I get.

The first time I got bored, I created a new character and started from scratch. You could try this on a different server, and meet new people.

I recently left my FC for many reasons, one of them being that it had grown quite stagnant to me, being a lone wolf and picking up a couple new LS doing the relic grind has been refreshing.

You can try soloing different content, but this only works in the short term. A Whm in my old FC used to duo everything, so that could kill some time.

The game is honestly at a very stagnate point though, and I think many are in the same boat as you. It should get a little better as 3.0 progresses, but it will happen again at 4.0. But maybe the game needs a drop off of players for SE to losen up the purse strings. Of course thats a gamble.

You could take a break, but I know for me at least breaks become permanent vacations.
