While we've received an apology for the mistakes made in Haurchefant's early localization and other areas, and a pledge that such errors will not be made in the future, the incorrect translations remain in the game. When can we expect this to be corrected?
I realize we probably can't expect the already-existing voice acting to be changed, and there are some people who like the blander English version of Haurchefant, but this would be a great time to introduce an alternate text option that is actually accurate to the Japanese voice track.
We have precedent for reviving dead characters, with lore regarding an emperor from Allagan times revived, a character from 1.0 not being as dead as expected, and in the WHM content. We had some well-liked characters die and while their deaths had great emotional impact, the fact that this is a fantasy game makes me wonder if these characters could show up again in some way? Ghosts, primals, zombies, actual resurrections? Say a group of heretics summoned Shiva again, would she recognize us? Would there be any Ysayle in there? The religious characters have a differing view of the afterlife from what we were told by the Scions in 2.X, will we get any confirmation on it? Halone's halls versus returning to the aether? While I love the lore about the physical world, I'm still curious about the metaphysics, ESPECIALLY since there are contradictory views in-game and the repercussions are something we get to see...with Primals being summoned all the time, people who know the WoL well, all that
Leading off a little from one of the previous posters, I find that the localisation team do a wonderful job and the quality of writing - with attentions to both regional and archaic especially - to be absolutely superb.
However.
It seems that a lot of the original dialogue gets swept under the rug only to be replaced with very unnecessary changes. Do you not feel it is unfair to the design and intended personalities behind the characters to misconstrue them in a way that their dialogue can or will be interpreted differently to the original dialogue? In the case of Haurchefant in the final cutscene of the Vault, the English translation seemed represent a much less personal dialogue with the player character. It sounded more like he was addressing the Warrior of Light as the Warrior of Light whereas a friend of mine informed me that the Japanese dialogue sounded a lot more like he was addressing the Warrior of Light of as an actual person whom they truly felt close to. The alterations were subtle, but subtleties can mean the world in situations such as those.
Similarly, following Alphinaud and the WoL's departure from Ul'dah during the formation of the Crystal Braves where Nanamo and Raubahn discuss the situation of Teledji Adeledji, Nanamo throws herself into Raubahn's arms, inconsolable in her utter frustration with how powerless she feels. In the Japanese dialogue, I noticed that Raubahn simply echoes her name back to her as she cries into his chest as though he, equal in his sense of powerlessness, does not have the words to soothe her mind when her reaction tears him off-guard. In the English dialogue however, I believe he says something more like "Have faith, Your Grace. The fight is not over yet". The dialogue isn't exactly inaccurate perhaps as those words carry a sense of resistance one would attribute with Raubahn, but I still think that even a subtlety like that has an effect on how a scene is received and where the focus is directed; but above all else, why would a change like that be deemed necessary at all in such a simplistic case? Regardless of whether or not it has a different effect to the average individual, the practice alone carries the danger of doing so, as has been noted in cases by other posters.

Any new information on egi-glamour? Release date?...etc. I have now been waiting for some info since the announcement of no new egi's. Love the Summon job but ifrit-egi, Garuda-egi and Titan-egi are boring to look at now.
Can you explain why you chose to name the final boss(es) of Pharos Sirius HM Progenitix/Progenitor rather than something like Mom Bomb/Dad Bomb? This seemed like an unnecessary change in the name of a boss fight that was referencing previous games (Final Fantasy 4 and FF4 -The After Years-).

Just a thought but since Ul'Dah has so much space and there are many pathways that just end maybe a Grand Library can be created to house all of the lore information, previously shown concept sketches, a bestiary, family trees, lore related to each of the classes etc. Obviously this would be a long work-in-progress for a future 3._ patch release but I think it would be fun and add a new dimension to the game. Access to it could be tied into a quest line where you help an Eorzean research with their research... or something along the lines.
...Also the Grand Library could act as a sort of bridge to a new DoH/ DoL class "Researcher". This class could be responsible for creating books of lore for the library or even creating glamour-able gear from past civilizations...or something similar.
Similarly what if the library doubled as a guild for a DoM Beastmaster class? This class could use runes configurations (similar to Ninja mudras) to ensnare and control certain monsters of Eorzean lore to use in battle.
I really loved the character G'raha Tia. Is there any hope to seeing him again?![]()

Just wondering will we get some lore/ story-related content to explain the train tracks throughout Thanalan? Were they originally used by miners? Were they used in the past by Lalafells as a method of transportation instead of mounts, airships or the aetherial teleport network? I only ask because there are a number of stations (black brush etc.) scattered around Thanalan.
