Engineer job - Magitek armor riding tank

    Name: Engineer
    Weapon: Wrench
    Role: Tank (can off-spec)
    Armor: Light (supplemented)
    Origin: Garlemald (via Garlond Ironworks)

While working on my suggestion for the Soldier, I ended up coming up with ideas for two other jobs: Engineer and Chemist. Well... actually another, I'm currently limiting my suggestions to one job of Garlean origin for each role. The engineer would be based out of the Garlond Ironworks, developing out of the company's work and expertise with magitek technology, including the (occasional) use of magitek armor in specific situations.

Engineer would be... an unorthodox tanking job. The class would normally use light armor, and their tanking ability would in fact derive from the use of a magitek armor that they would ride into battle. Their main weapon would actually be used mainly to maintain and tweak their magitek armor, although they can give a passing whack with it to enemies that get too close. (Or potentially throw it as a threat-drawing opener or a stun.)

I figure the job would function with the engineer summoning the magitek armor as a highly controlled "pet mount", which itself draws the threat and enhances the defenses of the engineer by shielding them. The engineer, in turn, would command the magitek armor to use its abilities in combat, and maintain it to keep it operational and prevent themselves from being rendered vulnerable.

As the magitek armor would draw the threat to itself as the "pet mount", the engineer riding it would normally only be under threat if their magitek armor was rendered inoperable, or they were specifically targeted in PvP by other players, or via a gameplay mechanic. In such an event, the magitek armor would provide bonus protection to the character riding it while operational, acting like a permanent form of "Guard" effect while running.

Due to the job concept using a magitek armor ridden into battle, I also like the idea that the Engineer could also earn/make and summon other models of magitek armor, and that they could potentially unlock the ability to use them as regular mounts outside of combat. These "other models" could work like a reverse to summoner - being a DPS that can off-tank - allowing the job to off-DPS, or potentially even provide support effects to teammates like a magitek barrier field or off-healing abilities.
