Suppose I have nothing else better to do.

And I see a Warrior's Berserk is about to wear off.

How do I time my Esuna/Leeches/Exalted to remove Pacification as soon as it pops up? I've tried a few times but I've always been too early and ended up casting again to remove it at the ever-useless 1 second mark.

I know that the timer ticks 1 - blank - Pacification, so when do I start casting?

(Any assumptions you have might be right: if I have time for this then I'm not in raid content. I've healed 100% dungeons and trial roulette primals so far. Nothing beyond that. Not even Coil or old EX primals. Still, it'd be nice to know.)

You can watch their Berserk icon timer and as soon as it wears off is when you can dispel the pacify (GCD will hit after the 1). We have our Warrior do the pull Defiance-Unchained in A1S for the most damage before the split, and I usually can catch the 2nd pacify before I have to go back to refreshing HoTs. (First pacify is null by the Bard's Warden's Paeon). I don't always get it if his Berzerk timing is off than the usual but I'm pretty concious if it's possible during raids.

From this Warrior's perspective, removing pacification is pretty moot unless I need to pick up an add in those 5 secs. Usually Brutal Swings up and I'll throw that out, or mercy stroke if enemies are <20% and not even notice the Pacification.

Yeah, despite all of the berserk macros you see, pacification doesn't hurt us too much, timing is going to depend on your latency for the most part, a good reference point would be to treat it like an aoe cast, that should give you a good idea of how to better time your precast.

Ignore it and keep spamming Broil because its better

Honestly, I get the point of it, but its generally more worthwhile to just keep up healer DPS than take the time to esuna the tank, not to mention I usually go SCH so Selene does it for me.

Pacify status isn't too bad; Duration is short and although I can't use skills, I can still use abilities like mercy stroke, brutal swing and flash, so it's not like I'm dead in the water during pacification.

Don't do anything, but keep your own GCD flow up. Every good WAR anticipates pacification and if timings get weird etc., they should click off their Berserk in anticipation as well to not be pacified during pickups. There is zero excuse. You can try to snipe it with Fey Caress, though, as that usually stays unused for most things (not always), and is helpful to do. (Then again that is also Embrace HPS loss, but not drastic).

If you can remove it, all the better. But you aren't (shouldn't) be expected to remove it 100% of the time. You have priorities as a healer and pacification from berserk is pretty low on that list.

A Warrior tank I had in the arboretum was fussy at me for not removing pacification despite him having an accurate macro.

"Do you even know what (Berserk) is?"

This was a great example, one of the DPS in this group had two stacks of poison on him. What do you do? Remove the tank's 6 second pacification, or give the DPS poisoned the antidote of Esuna/Leeches/Exalted Detriment or a nice regen to keep him/her up? I think the choice is obvious. This tank was cool and all about it after a short brief on the situation and why healers don't opt to remove pacification all the time despite constantly being told to with <se.5> and whatnot.

I removed his pacification a few times after that, but kind of stopped doing it halfway through so I could gravity spam. Efficiency>tank QoL right? >.>

I would just ignore it. It is highly unlikely that you would have nothing better to do.

There was a warrior in my group who insisted on the removal. They were undergeared. Their CD management was poor. They wanted to do big pulls. So I followed their wish, spent one GCD on their pacification and guess what? They died.

On the bright side they probably removed the macro from their bar as I hadn't seen it afterwards.

Maybe if you are not dpsing you could sometimes remove it... but still rather do some dps.

Ok, thanks for the suggestions. I'm kind of a panicky/scrub healer, so there's those moments where I'm very indecisive about switching on Cleric, and I just kind of... do nothing. Or overheal. And it's in those moments that I end up trying to remove Pacification. It's a pretty big flaw with me, yet no one's really pointed it out.

On the other side, I'm fairly good about transitioning out of Cleric to go back to healing.
