    [dev1068] Materiae Fusion

    Materiae Fusion

    Class: Alchemist

Description: Being able to meld two Materiae together and having a possibility to obtain a better Materia from this fusion.

Purpose: Materiae Level I and II seem useless to me (to me). And once I obtain one, I really don't know what to do with it. I won't meld it, it sells bad because it is not rare. So what else can I do with it? Materiae Fusion could be a way to dynamize the Materia System and create a new use and a new exchange matrix.

    How does it work:
You obtained two Battledance Materiae I from two spirit bound pieces of gear.
You have no use of them and would like to take advantage of the hard work you did to obtain them.
This is simple. You ask an Alchemist to fuse your two Materiae and you may have a chance to create a Battledance Materia II, but it could also simply create a better Battledance Materia I. So the system isn't too easy but stay fair in regard of your long hard work.

    In details:
Fused Materiae must be the same type.

First fusion is always successful. (gone due to comments)

A Materia created with the Materiae Fusion system can be fused again with another Materia but the success rate decreases (not as much as the existing multi-Materiae melding). If you fail, your highest Materia stats can decrease or you may lose this Materia or the two Materiae of the recipe.

Materia I + Materia I = Enhanced Materia I or Low Materia II
Materia I + Materia II = Enhanced Materia II

Materia II + Materia II = Enhanced Materia II or Low Materia III
Materia I + Materia III = Enhanced Materia III (Small)
Materia II + Materia III = Enhanced Materia III

Materia III + Materia III = Enhanced Materia III or Low Materia IV
Materia I + Materia IV = Enhanced Materia IV (Very Small)
Materia II + Materia IV = Enhanced Materia IV (Small)
Materia III + Materia IV = Enhanced Materia IV

Materia IV + Materia IV = Enhanced Materia IV (Max)
Materia I + Materia IV = Enhanced Materia IV (Very Small)
Materia II + Materia IV = Enhanced Materia IV (Small)
Materia III + Materia IV = Enhanced Materia IV

    Conditions:
Alchemist Level 1~19: Fuse Materiae I
Alchemist Level 20~39: Fuse Materiae I and Materiae II
Alchemist Level 40~49: Fuse Materiae I, Materiae II and Materiae III
Alchemist Level 50: Fuse Materiae I, Materiae II, Materiae III and Materiae IV

Please tell me what you think about this system. Would you like to have it in Final Fantasy XIV? If yes, what are your ideas to improve it? What is wrong about it?

    Suggestions from members:
From RemVye: I don't like the first one succeeds thing. I think it should be a typical crafting synth, where you can get normal or hq's. The HQ are just higher quality of that tier.

From AngryNixon: The only thing I would do differently is that this might be like the opposite of shattering crystals and that subsequent fusings don't have a chance failure nor are they 100%. It should be a regular recipe with all the chance of success/failure of any other crafting recipe.

    From Eldaena & Wynn:
Eldaena: I hope eventually culinarian and alchemist can do something with materia. Maybe have magic materia combined with alchemy and melee sorts of materia made with culinarian or something. XD I think it's sad they are kind of left out of the materia loop right now.
Wynn: Infuse materia into food to get customized food buffs?

From Alise: Not bad, but I think it should remove the "first fusion always success" off. it is too easy to get low IV + low IV = max there.
