well if you really wanted you can always put your friends name in the description of your plot you own. but i would agree that it may sound harsh but asking a game company to specifically make a model of a character of your friend is a waste of their talents, when they could be doing updates for a whole population and just not a very select few players. to be honest i don't think people would like some creepy statue of some guy you knew that died this is a game leave that stuff in reality.

I haven't gone through the whole thread, not sure if somebody expressed this point already (I hope so), but my first and foremost thought was this, yes. I play games for escapism, things for me are pretty messed up already with my own problems, and man would it suck if I get out of my fictional house where I hang out with friends and have fun and I get to see the neighbour's grieving over somebody's loss, every time. Man, thanks, now I want to log out.

It's not really lack of empathy. It's just because I have empathy to begin with that things like these hit me, that I feel sad if bad things happen to other people. Grieve, work out your feelings, stop playing for a while, make a symbolic memorial, I don't know; however I think of this it still feels too inappropriate to add to a videogame.

This might've been said before, but I don't feel like reading through pages on this topic. I'd suggest making a player portrait using the images that are used for forums. Then make that item a cash shop buy. Se gets money, you get your token of remembrance, everyone is happy.

How about a statue of a Warrior of Light (looking at the default midlander here) with a plaque " To our remembered fellow warriors of light"
you can't bully people with names then and it might fit the housing area.

Some excellent ideas through some of the negative rubbish.

Been playing online games since i was 8? 23 now, Never have i've seen someone die in game or in my friendlist/guild.

Lucky? Maybe. how ever its very unlikely they would add something like this for a small group of people that actually wanna do something like this.
I'm sure you can keep his memory alive in some other way. I mean, i can understand like a fallen warrior thingy that you can type a name on it or something like that, But not the way you're asking for. thats far from happening.

Yea, I think it's pretty lucky. We've actually had 3 players pass away from XI to XIV. I appreciate the positive comments and hate the trolling ones. Not sure why people simply can't be kind. If you don't like it, great! Don't need to like it. But when you troll the poster with rude comments, you just look.. bad. Nothing wrong with a little kindness. (No I don't think you're comment was trolling like some others).

I doubt they would implement it either, but there's nothing wrong with suggesting it and their family thought it was a great idea.

As someone who has lost not one but two friends who were members of my FC, raid group, etc in the last year, I would sincerely appreciate a way to remember them. It does not have to be a memorial statue. It does not have to be a gravestone piece of furniture but something... Even the biggest MMO company of them all, Blizzard has routinely memorialized longtime players in its game over the years. Yes, a lot of them had "friends" on the dev team, but quite a few of them have not. It is not too much to ask for there to be a small way we can remember our departed friends. We have done our best in the past. Our friend that passed last year, we named our first Airship afterhim. We purchased his house when it went up for sale because he could no longer log in and made it a memorial to him. But we want to do something more lasting. The suggestion was to create a retainer that looks like our friend and place it. But in the end it will always have a name on it that is not his. We'd like something more substantial, something we could place in our house (or out in the world.)

In the end, RIP my friend "Potato Cake". You will be missed.
