To be fair...the original Relics weren't dye-able at all.
Only the Zodiac weapons (Zeta) themselves were.

Neither was most of our gear at the time. We don't know what future updates will bring fully to the relics, and there's, to me, a decent enough chance to be able to re-dye the relics in the future. And you pretty much just said what I did with more words..
