    While I would never use this, I can see why people would, the clipping with tails is horrible and SE hasn't been putting as much care into accommodating for tails in their gear like they did in 2.x (which is weird considering they now have two races with tails, versus 2.x only having one).

    I found this thread on a search engine. This should give you an idea of how important the issue is to me. :B I, too, thought a tail toggle button (similar to /cpose and /visor) would be a good band-aid on the clipping issue. This toggle has been on my wish list for years, but one of the expansions reminded me strongly of it, because a certain central character spent most of the expansion with tail tucked beneath clothes. I know NPCs are entirely different to design than PCs, but it still made me very wistful to see.

    I glam a lot of dresses and other long, loose garments that, at best, look foolish with a tail jutting out. Capes and tabards, and anything with two or more long layers especially suffer with a tail poking through. There are many garments, though, that would flow much better with a tail 'beneath' the skirt.

    Maybe it seems a small complaint to some, but to me (and I am admittedly neurodivergent), it is an immersion-breaking problem that I notice all the time.

    It's not as though a bipedal race like this needs the tail for balance, so tucking it beneath a skirt should pose no issues to lore. Though I am uncertain of the programming difficulty posed by providing a tail toggle, I am here to register my interest.

    There's already gear that "replaces" the tail (Evenstar, at least one of the DRG AF sets), so hiding it shouldn't really be that difficult. The tail is one of the main draws of playing Au Ra for me, but even I agree that it should just not show up when wearing anything with a full length cape, it just looks bad popping straight through like that...

    we already have alternate texture/models for hairstyles that change with what kind of headpiece you have on , tails already HAVE an on/off attribute for certain costumes but not some others (chocobo outfit for some reason does not turn off the tail but pig does).

    So this is in the game already, but for some reason not enabled with any logic toward whether the tail clips unpleasantly with the gear or not.

    As someone who avoids certain outfits simply because it's aesthetically irking to have a tail clipping through the outfit like it's not there (I.E. Waving THROUGH cloth horizontally) , I would also like a tail toggle or at least logically applied on/off styling for certain outfits.

    Yeah, to be honest, I was just covering my bum when I said that. I have encountered serious anger when criticizing this game before. ^ ^; You're right, though: this feature already exists halfway, so they may as well let us apply it at will, assuming they won't do it logically as you described.

    edit: I would like to point out to all comers that this thread was started in 2016. The early replies in this thread would give newcomers the false impression that tail clipping is not really a big deal. The problem has gotten worse, as evidenced by the images I linked. I could have posted more, but I didn't want to make a project of it.

    Gear has continued, and will continue, to be designed without regard to au ri and miqo'te tails. Frankly, I like the increasing complexity of glams in this game, and I want more like them. There is actually no way to gracefully include a tail in a dress or tunic with a cape, or a long loose garment. It will clip horizontally through. If they don't want to program tails to 'tuck away' (vanish) when certain equipment is worn, the best option is to let us vanish tails at our discretion.
