    Garlean eyes

As you guys may already know, native Garleans have that third eye in their foreheads. Among our allies Cid and Lucia have them as well, showing that theyre of Garlean descent. Theyre easily mistaken for a jewel though.

I've been wondering if the eyes actually serve a purpose as an organ. They dont appear to have a pupil so I wonder if they can actually see anything with it at all. Cid and Lucia dont seem slightly bothered by the fact that they keep it covered. Or them and the Garlean enemies having any benefit to having it exposed.

Has there been any more info given on this subject? What are your thoughts and ideas on this?

This comes up every now and again, so forgive me for simply quoting myself on this one:

Nero could have been using his to out the spy early in 2.0, but he said "frumentarium sees all", which implies that the Garlean intelligence agency just told him who to kill (The Frumentarii were the wheat collectors of ancient Rome, and also their secret service).

The only legitimate reference to it that I remember is when you Echo-blast Cid's amnesia and he says, "That light─it was you, wasn't it? It's surprising how few people know this, but all pureblood Garleans have a third eye. Perhaps mine helped me recognize you─or perhaps it was just a lucky guess."

On one hand, you did just Echo-blast his amnesia away, but on the other, perhaps that's why he saw the Echo as a light. Not many people that you resonated with to see their past actually knew you were doing it - Raya-O-Senna was one of the few.
It's also been noted that pureblood Garleans have the third eye on their helmets, though it's unknown if this is a separate "viewing" apparatus for it or simply a display of rank and status as a true child of Garlemald.

Sadly for your subject, I don't think anything new to offer has come up since that post

I'd like to think that the "3rd" eye is an allagan genetic modification. Its original use.... who knows but i think it's what's keeping garleans for using aether. A seal of sorts

I could swear I recall a line somewhere about the third eye allowing them to see aether, but if Anonymoose doesn't, maybe I imagined it.

Yea I have a personal theory on that, I've mentioned it before elsewhere but why not here as well? I think that the Garleans are descended from the Allagean Summoners. I seem to recall something about them being deemed to be too powerful in the eyes of the Empire. I also remember something mentioned about the equivalent of a 'witch hunt' at some point. I figured that with the Allags love of genetic modification, why not shut down the Summoners aether networks, thus their ability to Summon. That the modification was passed on to other generation was a bonus as it prevented so-and-so's kid from trying to have revenge.

That would make since considering The van Darnus line was in possession of the soul Allagan Tomestones that contained how to operated Dalamuld and The Ultima Weapon.
