Does anyone else get bummed out at night?

First of all, let me say I'm not making any demands or asking for anything, or wanting nighttime removed, just looking for discussion because I'm bored.

When it's nighttime in game, I can't stand going around questing, mining, whatever. I can't really see what I'm doing. Maybe my settings are somehow too dark, I don't know. I also hate caves, though that I can recall there aren't many that require me to be in them very often.

I also can't stand the way my character looks in lamplight. The shadows are all off and awful.

It's especially annoying personally to me when it's broad daylight outside, but night in game. I almost wish there were personal settings that allowed my game to move in real time vs game time. On that note, night time when it's night IRL doesn't bother me as much.

When it's daytime, my favorite place to be is somewhere in La Noscea, and if I'm just hanging out waiting in queue, I like to chill in Limsa and people watch.

When I'm in a dungeon, say, for example, Brayflox, or Cutters Cry, even the Vault, and it's day time? The dungeon is just so much more enjoyable. When it's so dark I can't even enjoy the dungeons aesthetics it's just totally boring.

Anyone else feel like this? Or if you don't feel like this, comment as well!

Maybe it's your PC that isn't good. At last on heavensward areas the weather it's fantastic.

I like that there are various weather bits, but that said I feel like it's nighttime too much. It feels that for every hour of daylight we have, there are 6 hours of night. I first noticed this when I woke up at like 3-am for Early Access of Heavensward, and played for 20 hours straight. I went through all these beautiful new zones in the dark, it really sucked.

Maybe it's your PC that isn't good.

It's my boyfriends PC so I'm not too sure what the specs are, but I'm able to play absolutely any game on max settings with no problem, so I don't think it's that. Honestly I feel it's like no matter what room I put the PC in during the day there's just too much light and it makes the screen dimmer.

Sorry I love sunlight and being out there in the day. but really it doesn't effect us at all. Good or bad. Only thing which is nice is better at night is the night sky.

This! I love the weather, bring on the weather (although some places seem to always be gloomy and raining!). One of my favorite places is Sea of Clouds, beautiful during the day. Gorgeous when you're watching the sunset down into the clouds. At night time? YUCK!

If it's too dark, adjust the gamma and/or brightness settings in game, in your GPU settings or on your monitor or TV. Personally I tweak gamma first as it tends to not make things appear "washed out" like brightness can.

You may also need to tinker with the contrast settings too if you adjust the gamma and brightness so that the mid-range is made brighter but you still keep deep darks.

As far as how I feel about night in the game, I'm perfectly fine with it and there are many environments that look beautiful at night. This of course will be preference based, for example you think Sea of Clouds is ugly at night where I think it is beautiful. Flying through the sky with a field of stars as my backdrop is wonderful to me.

I agree, there's way too much night time in this game, and there are lighting situations, such as in Gridania in the building with the vendors and market board, in which characters look terrible.

I would much prefer to spend more time in daylight for sure, even though I do love the night sky.

Honestly, I did this to make things more dark. I find the colours look too washed out alternatively.

I've set in the Nvidia Control Panel to have Brightness 50, Contrast 80, Colour Vibrance 75 (I think ish), with gama slightly reduced in game. It makes 90% of the game look so much better, though some areas are a bit too dark.

Game looks fantastic in both day and night. I'm pretty sure its either your monitor or GPU settings to make things seem too dark to enjoy.
